If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 5/8/2017

Read: Luke 8:26-39, Col 3:1-14, Psa 129, 1 Chron 12-14

Luke 8:35,37 (GW) 35  The people went to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out. Dressed and in his right mind, he was sitting at Jesus' feet. The people were frightened. … 37  Then all the people from the surrounding region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave because they were terrified. Jesus got into a boat and started back.

PRAYER: I am prepared for the illogical rejection people may give me because of YOU.  I’m still in.

Luke 8:39 (GW) 39  “Go home to your family, and tell them how much God has done for you.” So the man left. He went through the whole city and told people how much Jesus had done for him.

NOTE: the Good News is to start at home and then spreads everywhere

PRAYER: Lord, may I be as bold of a witness at home and everywhere.

Colossians 3:1-5 (GW) 1  Since you were brought back to life with Christ, FOCUS on the things that are above—where Christ holds the highest position. 2  KEEP your mind on things above, not on worldly things. 3  You have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4  Christ is your life. …. 5  Therefore, put to death whatever is worldly in you: your sexual sin, perversion, passion, lust, and greed (which is the same thing as worshiping wealth).

PRAYER: Help me to live in this world without being “of” this world.

Colossians 3:8-9,12-13 (GW) 8  Also get rid of your anger, hot tempers, hatred, cursing, obscene language, and all similar sins. 9  Don't lie to each other. You've gotten rid of the person you used to be and the life you used to live,  12  As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. 13  Put up with each other, and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

PRAYER: YOU are my model. Help me abandon and keep distance from the pre-Jesus me.  Help me to love and shine like YOU.

Colossians 3:10 (GW) 10  and you've become a new person. This new person is continually renewed in knowledge to be like its Creator.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for these daily Word moments.

Colossians 3:11 (GW) 11  Where this happens, there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, uncivilized person, slave, or free person. Instead, Christ is everything and in everything.

PRAYER: Help me to see all others as YOU see them (with love and compassion).

Psalm 129:2 (GW) 2  “From the time I was young, people have attacked me, but they have never overpowered me.

PRAYER: I will not let people nor circumstances keep me down.  I will not quit.  I serve a Risen Lord.

1 Chronicles 12:38 (GW) 38  All of these soldiers, who were prepared for battle, came with a single purpose to Hebron—to make David king of all Israel. The rest of Israel also had agreed to make David king.

PRAYER: Bring the church together for the common purposes YOU’d have them to be about.

1 Chronicles 13:9-10 (GW) 9  But when they came to Chidon's threshing floor, the oxen stumbled. So Uzzah reached out to grab the ark. 10  The LORD became angry with Uzzah and killed him for reaching for the ark. He died in God's presence.

PRAYER: I know, YOU don’t always need my help.  But certainly always need YOURs.

1 Chronicles 14:12 (GW) 12  The Philistines left their gods there, so David ordered that the gods be burned.

PRAYER: I choose to remain firmly devoted to YOU.  Identify anything in my life that I need to get rid of.

1 Chronicles 14:16 (GW) 16  David did as God ordered him, ….

PRAYER: lead me!

THOT: The Jesus follower is changed daily by the guidance and power of God’s Word.  Yet they have to willfully abandon the old ways that are not God’s will.

Colossians 3:22-23 (GW) 22  Slaves, always obey your earthly masters. Don't obey them only while you're being watched, as if you merely wanted to please people. Be sincere in your motives out of respect for your real master. 23  Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly as though you were working for your real master and not merely for humans.

PRAYER: In secret and in public, I will serve others as if I’m serving YOU.  May those who are not believers see YOU in me.

Psalm 130:3-4,7 (GW) 3  O LORD, who would be able to stand if you kept a record of sins? 4  But with you there is forgiveness so that you can be feared. 7  O Israel, put your hope in the LORD, because with the LORD there is mercy and with him there is unlimited forgiveness.

PRAYER: I am undeserving, but I humbly and appreciatively receive YOUR mercy and grace.

NOTE: an explanation why Uzzah died trying to right the Ark.

PRAYER: May I, and we the members of YOUR Body, remain dedicated to YOUR Word and Will as we continue to surrender our dreams and plans over to YOU.

1 Chronicles 16:9-10,27 (GW) 9  Sing to him. Make music to praise him. Meditate on all the miracles he has done. 10  Brag about his holy name. Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. 27  Splendor and majesty are in his presence. Strength and joy are where he is.

PRAYER: May YOU receive the glory due YOUR holy name this coming weekend.

1 Chronicles 16:19-21 (GW) 19  “While they were few in number, a small group of foreigners living in that land, 20  they wandered from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another. 21  He didn't permit anyone to oppress them. He warned kings about them:

PRAYER: Bless our small numbers, Lord.

1 Chronicles 16:22 (GW) 22  ‘Do not touch my anointed ones or harm my prophets.'

PRAYER: I will be respectful of all authorities in my life, good and bad.

1 Chronicles 16:28-30 (GW) 28  “Give to the LORD, you families of the nations. Give to the LORD glory and power. 29  Give to the LORD the glory his name deserves. Bring an offering, and come to him. Worship the LORD in {his} holy splendor. 30  Tremble in his presence, all the earth! “The earth stands firm; it cannot be moved.

PRAYER: I bring YOU my gratitude, my humble tithes and offerings are a mere token of appreciation as well as an act of faith.  YOU are high and lifted up!

THOT: real believers willfully submit to Christ first and then one another.  Yet for all the submitting and serving they are also known for their joy, peace, and exuberant praise.

Wednesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

WEDNESDAY 5/10/2017

Read: Luke 9:1-17, Col 4:1-9, Psa 132, 1 Chron 17-19

Luke 9:1-2,9 (GW) 1   Jesus called the twelve apostles together and gave them power and authority over every demon and power and authority to cure diseases. 2  He sent them to spread the message about the kingdom of God and to cure the sick. … 6  The apostles went from village to village, told the Good News, and cured the sick everywhere.

PRAYER: May our church be as fervent in seeking people’s health and spiritual renewal.

Luke 9:10-11 (GW) 10   The apostles came back and told Jesus everything they had done. He took them with him to a city called Bethsaida so that they could be alone. 11  But the crowds found out about this and followed him. He welcomed them, talked to them about the kingdom of God, and cured those who were sick.

NOTE: Though wanting and needing “alone time” (which we all need more of) they are gracious regarding the interruption to be public for God.

PRAYER: Lord, may YOU get some alone time with me, and may I be as gracious with the rest of my precious time.

Luke 9:13 (GW) 13  Jesus replied, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “We have five loaves of bread and two fish. Unless we go to buy food for all these people, that's all we have.”

PRAYER: I understand, we are the solution to poverty and injustice.  What little we have is enough to start something that matters.

Luke 9:14 (GW) 14  (There were about five thousand men.) Then he told his disciples, “Have them sit in groups ….”

PRAYER: Bless our Small Group ministry.  May everyone not only be fed but may they enjoy stronger more meaningful relationships in the family of God.

Colossians 4:1 (GW) 1  Masters, be just and fair to your slaves because you know that you also have a master in heaven.

PRAYER: I will treat others as YOU have treated me, graciously and mercifully.

Colossians 4:2 (GW) 2  Keep praying. Pay attention when you offer prayers of thanksgiving.

PRAYER: I will seek YOU throughout the day and I hope to be ever appreciative for YOUR presence and YOUR presents.

Colossians 4:3,6 (GW) 3  At the same time also pray for us. Pray that God will give us an opportunity to speak the word so that we may tell the mystery about Christ. …. 6  Everything you say should be kind and well thought out so that you know how to answer everyone.

PRAYER: I will trust YOUR Holy Spirit to give me the exact right words that I haven’t already thought out.  But help me to think through the basics so that I can present them in an interesting and meaningful way.

Colossians 4:5 (GW) 5  Be wise in the way you act toward those who are outside {the Christian faith}. Make the most of your opportunities.

PRAYER: I choose to be brave and bold in my witness for YOU today.

Psalm 132:7 (GW) 7  Let's go to his dwelling place. Let's worship at his footstool.

PRAYER: Be blessed this weekend as we gather to honor YOU and lift YOU up in worship together.

Psalm 132:15-16 (GW) 15  I will certainly bless all that Zion needs. I will satisfy its needy people with food. 16  I will clothe its priests with salvation. Then its godly ones will sing joyfully.

PRAYER: Thank YOU!!!!

1 Chronicles 17:6,10 (GW) 6  In all the places I've moved with all Israel, did I ever ask any of the judges of Israel whom I ordered to be shepherds of my people why they didn't build me a house of cedar?' ….10  …. I even tell you that I, the LORD, will build a house for you.

PRAYER: I know that our place of worship is not really something YOU require, nor are you bound in.  But may YOU, nevertheless, be blessed there this weekend as we come together to honor YOU.

1 Chronicles 17:8 (GW) 8  I was with you wherever you went, ….

PRAYER: I really appreciate YOUR presence in my life, even when I remain unaware.

1 Chronicles 17:20,22 (GW) 20  “LORD, there is no one like you, and there is no other god except you, as we have heard with our own ears….  22  You made the people of Israel to be your people forever. And you, LORD, became their God.

PRAYER: Who is like YOU?! Who remains faithful like YOU?!  What god would claim us as His own, but YOUR?!!! Thank YOU!!!

1 Chronicles 19:12-13 (GW) 12  Joab said, “If the Arameans are too strong for my {troops}, be ready to help me. And if the Ammonites are too strong for your {troops}, I'll help you. 13  Be strong! Let's prove ourselves strong for our people and for the cities of our God, and the LORD will do what he considers right.”

PRAYER: May the members of YOUR church seek to help one another during those moments of weakness. But may we all seek to be strong and good representatives in an unbelieving world.

THOT: Jesus followers are called to care for one another, but also to minister to the unbelievers as well.  The hope is that believer and unbeliever will gather together in a place that represents God’s dwelling place and Worship together in community.

PRAYER: I say, YOU are my Lord, Master, and Savior.

Luke 9:22 (GW) 22   Jesus said that the Son of Man would have to suffer a lot. He would be rejected by the leaders, the chief priests, and the scribes. He would be killed, but on the third day he would come back to life.

NOTE: Clearly the Disciples weren’t listening to everything the Teacher taught.

PRAYER: Lord, thank YOU for taking the penalty of my sins.

Luke 9:23-24 (GW) 23   He said to all of them, “Those who want to come with me must say no to the things they want, pick up their crosses every day, and follow me. 24  Those who want to save their lives will lose them. But those who lose their lives for me will save them.

PRAYER: I’m learning to say “no” to worldly passions.  I am willing to make whatever sacrifices I must.  And I certainly will follow YOU!

Colossians 4:12 (GW) 12  Epaphras, a servant of Christ Jesus from your city, greets you. He always prays intensely for you. He prays that you will continue to be mature and completely convinced of everything that God wants.

PRAYER: I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ to also grow in their faith daily.

1 Chronicles 20:6-7 (GW) 6  In another battle at Gath, there was a tall man who had 24 fingers and toes: six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. He also was a descendant of Haraphah. 7  When he challenged Israel, Jonathan, son of David's brother Shimea, killed him.

PRAYER: So, YOU think I can be a giant slayer as well?!!!

1 Chronicles 21:1 (GW) 1   Satan attempted to attack Israel by provoking David to count the Israelites.

NOTE: who needs foreign enemies when you have your own ego to contend with?!!

PRAYER: Lord, help us in the successful churches to keep our egos in check.

1 Chronicles 21:24,26 (GW) 24  “No,” King David told Ornan, “I insist on buying it for the full price. I won't take what is yours for the LORD and offer burnt sacrifices that cost me nothing.”… 26  David built an altar for the LORD there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. He called on the LORD, and the LORD answered him by {sending} fire from heaven on the altar for burnt offerings.

PRAYER: No cheap offering from me either.

1 Chronicles 22:13 (GW) 13  Then you will succeed if you will carefully obey the laws and decrees the LORD commanded Moses to give to Israel. Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid or terrified.

PRAYER: I will boldly stick to YOUR book and I will not fear!

1 Chronicles 22:19 (GW) 19  So dedicate your hearts and lives to serving the LORD your God. Start building the holy place of the LORD God so that you can bring the ark of the LORD'S promise and God's holy utensils into the temple that will be built for the LORD'S name.”

PRAYER: We should be as dedicated to honoring YOU in the humble gathering place we have prepared for YOU this weekend.  May YOU be blessed at our next big gathering.

THOT: United in the Lord, empowered by His Living Word, the real believer sacrifices and serves boldly.

NOTE: Can you imagine being coached by these guys before the championship playoff

PRAYER: Lord, those guys were awesome but yet they are merely products of YOUR creative hand.

Luke 9:33,35 (GW) 33  As Moses and Elijah were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Teacher, it's good that we're here. Let's put up three tents—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” Peter didn't know what he was saying. … 35  A voice came out of the cloud and said, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen. Listen to him!”

PRAYER: How often have I had a “really good idea” that was far from YOUR will and wisdom.  Forgive me and guide me.

1 Thessalonians 1:3 (GW) 3  In the presence of our God and Father, we never forget that your faith is active, your love is working hard, and your confidence in our Lord Jesus Christ is enduring.

PRAYER: May YOU see dynamic faith, abundant love, and persistent conviction.

1 Thessalonians 1:5 (GW) 5  We know this because the Good News we brought came to you not only with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with complete certainty. In the same way you know what kind of people we were while we were with you and the good things we did for you.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for YOUR trustworthy and power filled Word.

1 Thessalonians 1:9 (GW) 9  They talk about how you welcomed us when we arrived. They even report how you turned away from false gods to serve the real, living God

PRAYER: Help us American Christians to fight off the gods of this culture in order to fully serve YOU.

Psalm 135:14 (GW) 14  The LORD will provide justice for his people and have compassion on his servants.

PRAYER: I hope to be a vehicle of YOUR justice to others.  May YOUR compassion be seen in me.

Psalm 135:18 (GW) 18  Those who make idols end up like them. So does everyone who trusts them.

NOTE: Yep, cracked, useless and forgotten.

PRAYER: Lord, keep us ‘on the guard’ for those idols of this world.

1 Chronicles 23:24 (GW) 24  … Everyone who served in the LORD'S temple was at least 20 years old.

PRAYER: Bless the young in our church as they start to serve YOU.

1 Chronicles 25:7 (GW) 7  They, along with their relatives, were trained, skilled musicians for the LORD. There were 288 of them.

PRAYER: Our worship team isn’t as big, but they love YOU as much.

THOT: the faithful are faith-filled, fully compassionate, trained and ever learning, actively representing their just and loving God.
