The people were frightened. … 37  Then all the people from the surrounding region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave because they were terrified. Jesus got into a boat and started back.

PRAYER: I am prepared for the illogical rejection people may give me because of YOU.  I’m still in.

Luke 8:39 (GW) 39  “Go home to your family, and tell them how much God has done for you.” So the man left. He went through the whole city and told people how much Jesus had done for him.

NOTE: the Good News is to start at home and then spreads everywhere

PRAYER: Lord, may I be as bold of a witness at home and everywhere.

Colossians 3:1-5 (GW) 1  Since you were brought back to life with Christ, FOCUS on the things that are above—where Christ holds the highest position. 2  KEEP your mind on things above, not on worldly things. 3  You have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4  Christ is your life. …. 5  Therefore, put to death whatever is worldly in you: your sexual sin, perversion, passion, lust, and greed (which is the same thing as worshiping wealth).

PRAYER: Help me to live in this world without being “of” this world.

Colossians 3:8-9,12-13 (GW) 8  Also get rid of your anger, hot tempers, hatred, cursing, obscene language, and all similar sins. 9  Don't lie to each other. You've gotten rid of the person you used to be and the life you used to live,  12  As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. 13  Put up with each other, and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

PRAYER: YOU are my model. Help me abandon and keep distance from the pre-Jesus me.  Help me to love and shine like YOU.

Colossians 3:10 (GW) 10  and you've become a new person. This new person is continually renewed in knowledge to be like its Creator.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for these daily Word moments.

Colossians 3:11 (GW) 11  Where this happens, there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, uncivilized person, slave, or free person. Instead, Christ is everything and in everything.

PRAYER: Help me to see all others as YOU see them (with love and compassion).

Psalm 129:2 (GW) 2  “From the time I was young, people have attacked me, but they have never overpowered me.

1 Chronicles 12:38 (GW) 38  All of these soldiers, who were prepared for battle, came with a single purpose to Hebron—to make David king of all Israel. The rest of Israel also had agreed to make David king.

PRAYER: Bring the church together for the common purposes YOU’d have them to be about.

1 Chronicles 13:9-10 (GW) 9  But when they came to Chidon's threshing floor, the oxen stumbled. So Uzzah reached out to grab the ark. 10  The LORD became angry with Uzzah and killed him for reaching for the ark. He died in God's presence.

PRAYER: I know, YOU don’t always need my help.  But certainly always need YOURs.

1 Chronicles 14:12 (GW) 12  The Philistines left their gods there, so David ordered that the gods be burned.

PRAYER: I choose to remain firmly devoted to YOU.  Identify anything in my life that I need to get rid of.

1 Chronicles 14:16 (GW) 16  David did as God ordered him, ….

PRAYER: lead me!

THOT: The Jesus follower is changed daily by the guidance and power of God’s Word.  Yet they have to willfully abandon the old ways that are not God’s will.

1 Chronicles 19:12-13 (GW) 12  Joab said, “If the Arameans are too strong for my {troops}, be ready to help me. And if the Ammonites are too strong for your {troops}, I'll help you. 13  Be strong! Let's prove ourselves strong for our people and for the cities of our God, and the LORD will do what he considers right.”

PRAYER: May the members of YOUR church seek to help one another during those moments of weakness. But may we all seek to be strong and good representatives in an unbelieving world.

THOT: Jesus followers are called to care for one another, but also to minister to the unbelievers as well.  The hope is that believer and unbeliever will gather together in a place that represents God’s dwelling place and Worship together in community.
