If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 7/3/2017 (08-21) #2016

Read: Luke 19:28-38, Titus 2:11-15, Prov 15:18-33, Esth 2

Luke 19:34 (GW) 34  The disciples answered, “The Lord needs it.”

PRAYER: YOUR will be done

Luke 19:38 (GW) 38  They shouted joyfully, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest heaven.”


Titus 2:11-12 (GW) 11  After all, God's saving kindness has appeared for the benefit of all people. 12  It trains us to avoid ungodly lives filled with worldly desires so that we can live self-controlled, moral, and godly lives in this present world.

PRAYER: I like the cleansing YOU bring me through YOUR grace.  I’d like to keep that feeling, so I will seek to make better decisions in my life.

Titus 2:14 (GW) 14  He gave himself for us to set us free from every sin and to cleanse us so that we can be his special people who are enthusiastic about doing good things.

PRAYER: Thank YOU!  I like feeling forgiven and renewed.  Because of YOU, I want to be good and do good.

Titus 2:15 (GW) 15  Tell these things to the believers. Encourage and correct them, using your full authority. Don't let anyone ignore you.

PRAYER: May I be filled with so much of YOUR love, I can’t help but encourage and correct.

Proverbs 15:18 (GW) 18  A hothead stirs up a fight, but one who holds his temper calms disputes.

PRAYER: May I keep control of my tongue and provide peace to those round me.

Proverbs 15:22 (GW) 22  Without advice plans go wrong, but with many advisers they succeed.

PRAYER: I will seek wisdom from others.

Proverbs 15:30-31 (GW) 30  A twinkle in the eye delights the heart. Good news refreshes the body. 31  The ear that listens to a life-giving warning will be at home among wise people.

PRAYER: I will be a good news sharer. But will also be a Word of Truth listener, even if that truth is hard to hear.

Proverbs 15:33 (GW) 33  The fear of the LORD is discipline {leading to} wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

PRAYER: I totally revere YOU.  I hope to lead a humble walk.

Esther 2:15-17 (GW) 15  … When Esther's turn came to go to the king, she asked only for what the king's eunuch Hegai, the guardian of the women, advised. Everyone who saw Esther liked her…... 17  Now, the king loved Esther more than all the other women … he put the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti.

NOTE: Esther remain likeable to all and didn’t take advantage of her position.  

THOT: Love drive the believer to correct and to be corrected. We are not of this world and we need to help one another survive it allure.


TUESDAY 7/4/2017 (08-22) #2017

Read: Luke 19:39-48, Titus 3:1-8, Prov 16:1-16, Esth 3-4

Luke 19:45-46 (GW) 45   Jesus went into the temple courtyard and began to throw out those who were selling things there. 46  He said to them, “Scripture says, ‘My house will be a house of prayer,' but you have turned it into a gathering place for thieves.”

PRAYER: Forgive us for making YOUR House a  house of entertainment or a house of music and message but not a house of prayer.  You deserve better.

Titus 3:1 (GW) 1  Remind believers to willingly place themselves under the authority of government officials. Believers should obey them and be ready to help them with every good thing they do.

PRAYER: I submit to YOU and any authority YOU place over me.  But I do pray for my government that there would be more and more good things I could support.

Titus 3:2 (GW) 2  Believers shouldn't curse anyone or be quarrelsome, but they should be gentle and show courtesy to everyone.

PRAYER: I will be a nice person to the rest of YOUR creation.

Titus 3:5,7 (GW) 5  he saved us, but not because of anything we had done to gain his approval. Instead, because of his mercy he saved us through the washing in which the Holy Spirit gives us new birth and renewal. … 7  As a result, God in his kindness has given us his approval and we have become heirs who have the confidence that we have everlasting life.

PRAYER: That’s amazing, thank YOU!!!

Titus 3:8 (GW) 8  This is a statement that can be trusted. I want you to insist on these things so that those who believe in God can concentrate on setting an example by doing good things. This is good and helps other people.

PRAYER: I’m not good enough to be saved, but I am saved enough to be good.

Proverbs 16:2 (GW) 2  A person thinks all his ways are pure, but the LORD weighs motives.

PRAYER: I know, I always think I’m right, but sometimes my motives are way off.  Help me to line up heart with YOUR Will.

Proverbs 16:3 (GW) 3  Entrust your efforts to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.

PRAYER: Smart, I give you my life, my family, my work.  Guide me and direct all my paths

Proverbs 16:4 (GW) 4  The LORD has made everything for his own purpose, ….

PRAYER: It’s all YOUR’s. YOUR will be done.

Proverbs 16:7 (GW) 7  When a person's ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

PRAYER: Help me to forgive and to make peace with even my enemies.

Esther 4:14 (GW) 14  The fact is, even if you remain silent now, someone else will help and rescue the Jews, but you and your relatives will die. And who knows, you may have gained your royal position for a time like this.”

PRAYER: I realize that my position and my possessions might be for something bigger than my own entertainment.

Esther 4:16 (GW) 16  “Assemble all the Jews in Susa. Fast for me: Do not eat or drink at all for three entire days. My servants and I will also fast. After that, I will go to the king, even if it is against a royal decree. If I die, I die.”

PRAYER: I am resolved to do the right thing.  May the church be united in doing and supporting the right thing.

THOT: The believer’s first devotion is to the Lord, but they are also to serve earthly authorities.  Believers must be involved in the church but also the community in which they live.


WEDNESDAY 7/5/2017 (08-23) #2018

Read: Luke 20:1-8, Titus 3:9-15, Prov 16:17-33, Esth 5-6

Luke 20:1-2 (GW) 1   One day Jesus was teaching the people in the temple courtyard and telling them the Good News. The chief priests, scribes, and leaders came up to him. 2  They asked him, “Tell us, what gives you the right to do these things? Who told you that you could do this?”

PRAYER: I would have just answered their question, but YOU showed wisdom and restraint.

Titus 3:9-10 (GW) 9  Avoid foolish controversies, arguments about genealogies, quarrels, and fights about Moses' Teachings. This is useless and worthless. 10  Have nothing to do with people who continue to teach false doctrine after you have warned them once or twice.

PRAYER: Help me to know when to talk and when to walk (away).

Titus 3:14 (GW) 14  Our people should also learn how to set an example by doing good things when urgent needs arise so that they can live productive lives.

PRAYER: I could be more flexible with my schedule and more generous with my resources.

Proverbs 16:20 (GW) 20  Whoever gives attention to the LORD'S word prospers, and blessed is the person who trusts the LORD.

PRAYER: YOUR Word enriches me.

Proverbs 16:22 (GW) 22  Understanding is a fountain of life to the one who has it, but stubborn fools punish themselves with their stupidity.

PRAYER: I will seek to understand rather than be understood.

Proverbs 16:25 (GW) 25  There is a way that seems right to a person, but eventually it ends in death.


Proverbs 16:32 (GW) 32  Better to get angry slowly than to be a hero. Better to be even-tempered than to capture a city.

PRAYER: Smart, please help me with that.

Esther 6:1-2,6 (GW) 1  That night the king could not sleep. So he told {a servant} to bring the official daily records, and they were read to the king. 2  The records showed how Mordecai had informed him that Bigthan and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs who guarded the entrance, had plotted a rebellion against King Xerxes. … 6  So Haman came in. The king then asked him, “What should be done for the man whom the king wishes to reward?” Haman thought to himself, “Whom would the king wish to reward more than me?”

NOTE: How many times has God orchestrated things to our advantage without us ever knowing it.  We must learn to “go with it”.

PRAYER: Lord, I trust YOU to keep me on the path and to direct me on.

THOT: We really do need God’s guidance on when to answer and when to be silent, when to go and when to stay.  Be grateful for God’s Word.


THURSDAY 7/6/2017 (08-24) #2019

Read: Luke 20:9-19, Philem 1-11, Prov 17:1-14, Esth 7-8

Luke 20:10,13,17 (GW) 10  “At the right time he sent a servant to the workers to obtain from them a share of the grapes from the vineyard. But the workers beat the servant and sent him back with nothing. … 13  “Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What should I do? I'll send my son, whom I love. They'll probably respect him.' … 17  Then Jesus looked straight at them and asked, “What, then, does this Scripture verse mean: ‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone'?

PRAYER: Forgive me for the times I’ve forgotten where my blessing come from or simply ignored YOUR Lordship in my life.  I want to live a life of service and appreciation.

Philemon 1:5-6 (GW) 5  I hear about your faithfulness to the Lord Jesus and your love for all of God's people. 6  As you share the faith you have in common with others, I pray that you may come to have a complete knowledge of every blessing we have in Christ.

PRAYER: May YOU see YOUR love, generosity, and faithfulness in me as well.

Proverbs 17:9 (GW) 9  Whoever forgives an offense seeks love, but whoever keeps bringing up the issue separates the closest of friends.

PRAYER: Help my brothers and sisters to let go of the offence and to find peace and love.

Proverbs 17:13 (GW) 13  Whoever pays back evil for good evil will never leave his home.

PRAYER: Tempting but I won’t do that.

Proverbs 17:14 (GW) 14  Starting a quarrel is {like} opening a floodgate, so stop before the argument gets out of control.

PRAYER: How often have I done just that?!  And it’s so messy to have to clean back up.  Help me to keep control of my tongue.

Esther 7:9 (GW) 9  Harbona, one of the eunuchs present with the king, said, “What a coincidence! The 75-foot pole Haman made for Mordecai, who spoke up for the well-being of the king, is still standing at Haman's house.” The king responded, “Hang him on it!”

NOTE: or God-incidence.

PRAYER: I love how YOU set things up.

THOT: The believer is keenly aware of where his/her blessings come from.   We live lives of appreciation and grace.


FRIDAY 7/7/2017 (08-25) #2020

Read: Luke 20:20-26, Philem 12-25, Prov 17:15-28, Esth 9-10

Luke 20:25 (GW) 25  He said to them, “Well, then give the emperor what belongs to the emperor, and give God what belongs to God.”

PRAYER: I will pay my taxes, but it all really belongs to YOU

Philemon 1:17 (GW) 17  If you think of me as your partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.

PRAYER: I will try to be open (and supportive) to different vessels YOU might use for YOUR kingdom

Proverbs 17:17 (GW) 17  A friend always loves, and a brother is born to share trouble.

PRAYER: I will become available for my suffering brothers and sisters.

Proverbs 17:22 (GW) 22  A joyful heart is good medicine, but depression drains one's strength.

PRAYER: I do like joy!!!!

Proverbs 17:27-28 (GW) 27  Whoever has knowledge controls his words, and a person who has understanding is even-tempered. 28  Even a stubborn fool is thought to be wise if he keeps silent. He is considered intelligent if he keeps his lips sealed.

PRAYER: Help me to keep control of my tongue even though my mind has so much to share.

Esther 9:22 (GW) 22  They were to observe them just like the days when the Jews freed themselves from their enemies. In that month their grief turned to joy and their mourning into a holiday. He declared that these days are to be days for feasting and celebrating and for sending gifts of food to one another, especially gifts to the poor.

PRAYER: I know my grief will be turned to joy, and my mourning into celebration with YOU in in control.

Esther 10:3 (GW) 3  Mordecai the Jew was ranked second only to King Xerxes. He was greatly respected by, and popular with, all of the other Jews, since he provided for the good of his people and spoke for the welfare of his fellow Jews.

NOTE: this is like a Joseph junior story.  Hard times, patience, turn around, God get the glory, and people get blessed.

PRAYER: Lord, I’ve just got to trust that YOU can use me even in those down moments.  I’ll hang on, I won’t quit.

THOT: believers mourn and suffer but not without trusting God to turn things around or at least reward them for their endurance.
