If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 7/10/2017 (09-01) #2023

Read: Luke 20:27-40, Heb 1:1-9, Prov 18, Isa 1-2

Luke 20:34-36 (GW) 34  Jesus said to them, “In this world people get married. 35  But people who are considered worthy to come back to life and live in the next world will neither marry 36  nor die anymore. They are the same as the angels. They are God's children who have come back to life.

PRAYER: This is a marvelous event to big for my little head.  I appreciate the sacrifice that will allow me such a privilege.  Thank YOU!!!!

Luke 20:38 (GW) 38  He's not the God of the dead but of the living. In God's sight all people are living.”

PRAYER: I am alive because of YOU, I will stay alive in YOU.

Hebrews 1:3 (GW) 3  His Son is the reflection of God's glory and the exact likeness of God's being. He holds everything together through his powerful words. After he had cleansed people from their sins, he received the highest position, the one next to the Father in heaven.

PRAYER: And thank YOU for today’s powerful Word.

Hebrews 1:8-9 (GW) 8  But God said about his Son, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter in your kingdom is a scepter for justice. 9  You have loved what is right and hated what is wrong. That is why God, your God, anointed you, rather than your companions, with the oil of joy.”

PRAYER: With YOUR joy I will also do what’s right and stand up for justice.

Proverbs 18:4,15 (GW) 4  The words of a person's mouth are like deep waters. The fountain of wisdom is an overflowing stream. …. 15  The mind of a person who has understanding acquires knowledge. The ears of wise people seek knowledge.

PRAYER: I hope to continue to grow, learn and share things that will benefit everyone.

Proverbs 18:6-8,13,21 (GW) 6  By talking, a fool gets into an argument, and his mouth invites a beating. 7  A fool's mouth is his ruin. His lips are a trap to his soul. 8  The words of a gossip are swallowed greedily, and they go down into a person's innermost being. 13  Whoever gives an answer before he listens is stupid and shameful. 21  The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love to talk will have to eat their own words.

PRAYER: So much power for good and bad in that little tongue of mine.  Help me to control it.

Proverbs 18:10-11 (GW) 10  The name of the LORD is a strong tower. A righteous person runs to it and is safe. 11  A rich person's wealth is his strong city and is like a high wall in his imagination.

PRAYER: Forgive our constant obsession with the almighty dollar.  YOU are my joy, You are my safe place.

Proverbs 18:12 (GW) 12  Before destruction a person's heart is arrogant, but humility comes before honor.

PRAYER: Pride cometh before the fall, got it!

Proverbs 18:24 (GW) 24  Friends can destroy one another, but a loving friend can stick closer than family.

PRAYER: Build the church into a network of sincerely loving friends and spiritual family.

Isaiah 1:2-3 (GW) 2  Listen, heaven, and pay attention, earth! The LORD has spoken, “I raised {my} children and helped them grow, but they have rebelled against me. 3  Oxen know their owners, and donkeys know where their masters feed them. But Israel doesn't know {its owner}. My people don't understand {who feeds them}.

PRAYER: Forgive me the times I have forgotten YOU, ignored YOU, and not given YOU the credit YOU deserve.  I appreciate all YOU do in my life.

Isaiah 1:11-15 (GW) 11  The LORD asks, “What do your many animal sacrifices mean to me? I've had enough of your burnt offerings of rams and enough fat from your fattened calves. I'm not pleased with the blood of bulls, lambs, or male goats. 12  When you appear in my presence, who asked you to trample on my courtyards? 13  Don't bring any more worthless grain offerings. Your incense is disgusting to me, so are your New Moon Festivals, your days of worship, and the assemblies you call. I can't stand your evil assemblies. 14  I hate your New Moon Festivals and your appointed festivals. They've become a burden to me, and I'm tired of putting up with them. 15  So when you stretch out your hands {in prayer}, I will turn my eyes away from you. Even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen because your hands are covered with blood.

PRAYER: May YOUR church put YOU first again.  May I and all other believers please YOU so this week as we turn back to YOU.  Then may next weekend’s worship be truly an authentic blessing to YOU.

Isaiah 1:16-17 (GW) 16  “Wash yourselves! Become clean! Get your evil deeds out of my sight. Stop doing evil. 17  Learn to do good. Seek justice. Arrest oppressors. Defend orphans. Plead the case of widows.”

PRAYER: Wherever there is injustice, I will raise a voice.  Wherever there is a need I will offer my hand.  Wherever there is darkness I will bring light to it.

Isaiah 1:18-19 (GW) 18  “Come on now, let's discuss this!” says the LORD. Though your sins are bright red, they will become as white as snow. Though they are dark red, they will become as white as wool. 19  If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land.

PRAYER: What a gift YOU bring. I am willing, I will choose a life of obedience to YOUR whole counsel and Word.

Isaiah 2:4-5 (GW) 4  Then he will judge disputes between nations and settle arguments between many people. They will hammer their swords into plowblades and their spears into pruning shears. Nations will never fight against each other, and they will never train for war again. 5  Come, descendants of Jacob, let's live in the light of the LORD.

PRAYER: That’s sounds awesome

THOT: Jesus followers live in grace but still strive to do the right thing, to demand justice, to care for the needy.  They shine in dark times.

Tuesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

TUESDAY 7/11/2017 (09-02) #2024

Read: Luke 20:41-47, Heb 1:10-14, Prov 19:1-14, Isa 3-5

Luke 20:47 (GW) 47  They rob widows by taking their houses and then say long prayers to make themselves look good. The scribes will receive the most severe punishment.”

PRAYER: I’ll be brief… just teasing. I know that what YOU want is a relationship not a performance.  I will live and talk my faith and convictions.

Hebrews 1:11-12 (GW) 11  They will come to an end, but you will live forever. They will all wear out like clothes. 12  They will be taken off like a coat. You will change them like clothes. But you remain the same, and your life will never end.

PRAYER: I am grateful for YOUR consistency.

Hebrews 1:14 (GW) 14  What are all the angels? They are spirits sent to serve those who are going to receive salvation.

PRAYER: And I appreciate all the extra support I get.

Proverbs 19:2 (GW) 2  A person without knowledge is no good. A person in a hurry makes mistakes.

PRAYER: I have proved this one.

Proverbs 19:8 (GW) 8  A person who gains sense loves himself. One who guards understanding finds something good.

PRAYER: I am open to learning whatever YOU can teach me.

Proverbs 19:13-14 (GW) 13  A foolish son ruins his father, and a quarreling woman is like constantly dripping water. 14  Home and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a sensible wife comes from the LORD.

PRAYER: Seems to me a “non-quarreling and sensible anybody (man or wife, male or female)” is better than dripping water.

Isaiah 3:8-9,12 (GW) 8  …what they say and what they do is against the LORD. They are defiant in his honored presence. 9  …. They boast about their sins, ….. They don't even bother to hide them. How horrible it will be for these people, because they have brought disaster on themselves. 12  “ My people, your guides mislead you, and you don't know which way to go.”

PRAYER: Forgive us our foolish ways. Raise up Godly leaders who will honor YOU.

Isaiah 4:2-5 (GW) 2  When that day comes, the branch of the LORD will be beautiful and wonderful. The fruit of the land will be the pride and joy of Israel's survivors. 3  … whoever remains in Jerusalem will be called holy, …. 4  The Lord will wash away the filth of Zion's people. …. 5  The LORD will create a cloud of smoke during the day and a glowing flame of fire during the night over the whole area of Mount Zion and over the assembly. His glory will cover everything.

PRAYER: For those of us who can survive the culture’s attacks, may YOUR glory shine brighter and longer.

Isaiah 5:12-13 (GW) 12  At their feasts there are lyres and harps, tambourines and flutes, and wine. Yet, they don't pay attention to what the LORD is doing or see what his hands have done. 13  “My people will go into exile because they don't understand what I'm doing. Honored men will starve, and common people will be parched with thirst.”

PRAYER: I am thirsty for YOUR direction and counsel.  I sincerely appreciate all YOUR wisdom and care

Isaiah 5:16-17 (GW) 16  The LORD of Armies will be honored when he judges. The holy God will show himself to be holy when he does what is right. 17  Then lambs will graze as if they were in their own pasture, and foreigners will eat among the ruins of the rich.

PRAYER: May the church grow with well fed lambs and whoever, far and near, that would seek to honor YOU.

THOT: Believers rise and fall, they are “on again” “off-again” but the Lord remains the same.

Wednesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

WEDNESDAY 7/12/2017 (09-03) #2025

Read: Luke 21:1-19, Heb 2:1-9, Prov 19:15-29, Isa 6-8

Luke 21:3-4 (GW) 3  He said, “I can guarantee this truth: This poor widow has given more than all the others. 4  All of these people have given what they could spare. But she, in her poverty, has given everything she had to live on.”

NOTE:  Most people see only two small coins but she gave 100%.  What have I given from all that God has given me?!!!

PRAYER: Lord, I can do better.  I want to be more generous to others.  And in appreciation for all YOU’ve done,  I certainly want to return to YOU a token of the blessing YOU’ve given to me.

Luke 21:12,16-19 (GW) 12  “Before all these things happen, people will arrest and persecute you. … put you into their prisons. … because of my name. … 16  “Even parents, brothers, relatives, and friends will betray you and kill some of you. 17  Everyone will hate you because you are committed to me. 18  But not a hair on your head will be lost. 19  By your endurance you will save your life.

PRAYER: I’m not exactly thrilled about the betrayal, let alone the killing part.  But I am committed and I put my trust in YOU.  I will not quit.

Luke 21:14-15 (GW) 14  So make up your minds not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves. 15  I will give you words and wisdom that none of your enemies will be able to oppose or prove wrong.

PRAYER: Supply me with those words and wisdom and I’ll try to be a braver witness for YOU to whomever.

Hebrews 2:6,9 (GW) 6  …: What is a mortal that you should remember him, or the Son of Man that you take care of him? 9  Jesus …we see him crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death. Through God's kindness he died on behalf of everyone.

PRAYER: YOUR love and attention to goof balls like me is really awesome!

Proverbs 19:17 (GW) 17  Whoever has pity on the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his good deed.

PRAYER: I can do better supporting the poor.  I will practice generosity.

Proverbs 19:18 (GW) 18  Discipline your son while there is still hope. Do not be the one responsible for his death.

PRAYER: I don’t like being disciplined anymore that I like giving it.  But I know that it is good and, in the end, may save all kinds of grief.  May I love enough to discipline.

Proverbs 19:19 (GW) 19  A person who has a hot temper will pay for it. If you rescue him, you will have to do it over and over.

PRAYER: There is just no condoning bad temper, mine nor anyone else’s.

Proverbs 19:20,25 (GW) 20  Listen to advice and accept discipline so that you may be wise the rest of your life. .. 25  Strike a mocker, and a gullible person may learn a lesson. Warn an understanding person, and he will gain more knowledge.

PRAYER: I am open to giving and receiving advice (even the stuff I didn’t ask for!).

Proverbs 19:21 (GW) 21  Many plans are in the human heart, but the advice of the LORD will endure.

PRAYER: I surrender to YOUR Will, Lord!

Isaiah 6:3 (GW) 3  They called to each other and said, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory.”

PRAYER: I can’t even imagine the display of YOUR glory, and the constant majestic scenes that are above the limits of this earthly existence.

Isaiah 6:5-7 (GW) 5  So I said, “Oh, no! I'm doomed. Every word that passes through my lips is sinful. I live among people with sinful lips. I have seen the king, the LORD of Armies!” 6  Then one of the angels flew to me. In his hand was a burning coal that he had taken from the altar with tongs. 7  He touched my mouth with it and said, “This has touched your lips. Your guilt has been taken away, and your sin has been forgiven.”

PRAYER: I am really grateful for YOUR mercy and grace.

Isaiah 6:8 (GW) 8  Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom will I send? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me!”

PRAYER: I am also available, Lord.  Send me too!!!

Isaiah 7:13-14 (GW) 13  “… Must you also try the patience of my God? 14  So the Lord himself will give you this sign: A virgin will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and she will name him Immanuel [God Is With Us].

PRAYER: YOU could have sent destruction or judgement, but instead YOU gave us YOU though we certainly didn’t deserve it.

Isaiah 8:11,13-14 (GW) 11  This is what the LORD said with his powerful hand on me. He warned me not to follow the ways of these people: … 13  Remember that the LORD of Armies is holy. He is the one you should fear and the one you should be terrified of. 14  He will be a place of safety for you. But he will be a rock that makes people trip and a stumbling block for both kingdoms of Israel. ….

PRAYER: For some YOU are a problem, for me YOU are my refuge and my strength.

THOT: Eternity is going to be awesome.  But on earth we have betrayal, lack of discipline, waywardness, and temptations.  It is hard, the faithful follower remains Word driven, enduring, and trusting in his/her God.

Read: Luke 21:20-28, Heb 2:10-18, Prov 20:1-15, Isa 9-10

Luke 21:26 (GW) 26  People will faint as they fearfully wait for what will happen to the world. Indeed, the powers of the universe will be shaken.

PRAYER: That sounds really bad.  I will keep my trust in YOU.

Luke 21:27 (GW) 27  “Then people will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

PRAYER: That’s going to be hair raising but in a different way.  Glad I’m on YOUR side.

Hebrews 2:10 (GW) 10  God is the one for whom and through whom everything exists. ….

PRAYER: It’s all YOUR’s. I’m YOUR’s!

Hebrews 2:11 (GW) 11  Jesus, who makes people holy, and all those who are made holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus isn't ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.

PRAYER: Yeah, that’s pretty crazy special.  Allowing us to feel like family is pretty cool!

Hebrews 2:14 (GW) 14  Since all of these sons and daughters have flesh and blood, Jesus took on flesh and blood to be like them. He did this so that by dying he would destroy the one who had power over death (that is, the devil).

PRAYER: Thank YOU! Thank YOU! Thank YOU!

Hebrews 2:18 (GW) 18  Because Jesus experienced temptation when he suffered, he is able to help others when they are tempted.

NOTE: It’s one thing to watch birds fly over your head, it’s another thing to let them build a nest in your hair.   Temptation isn’t the problem, entertaining it is.

PRAYER: Lord, thank YOU for being able to relate to and the power to survive temptation.

Proverbs 20:1 (GW) 1  Wine {makes people} mock, liquor {makes them} noisy, and everyone under their influence is unwise.

QUOTE:

Proverbs 20:3 (GW) 3  Avoiding a quarrel is honorable. After all, any stubborn fool can start a fight.

PRAYER: Help me to control my tongue and my passions.

Proverbs 20:5 (GW) 5  A motive in the human heart is like deep water, and a person who has understanding draws it out.

PRAYER: May we all learn how to dig a little deeper into our relationships to find depth.

Isaiah 9:2 (GW) 2  The people who walk in darkness will see a bright light. The light will shine on those who live in the land of death's shadow.

PRAYER: Show us the way, Lord!

Isaiah 9:6-7 (GW) 6  A child will be born for us. A son will be given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. He will be named: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7  His government and peace will have unlimited growth. He will establish David's throne and kingdom. He will uphold it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The LORD of Armies is determined to do this!

PRAYER: You are my rock, my Holy advisor, yet a Father.  Lead me in ways that honor YOU and help YOUR creation to find justice and to grow spiritually strong.

Isaiah 10:21-22 (GW) 21  A few, the remaining few of Jacob, will return to the mighty God. 22  Although your people Israel may be as {numerous as} the grains of sand on the seashore, only a few will return. Destruction will be complete and fair.

NOTE: Big numbers doesn’t always imply a strong church.   But numbers are people and people need salvation.  So blessed is the church that grows in numbers and in spirit.

PRAYER: Lord, for those who have left our fold.  May some of them find their way back into any church where they can begin to grow again.

THOT: Even in the tough times, we are not exempt from Holy living.  Fortunately we serve a God who understands and helps us through our weaknesses.

PRAYER: Thanks for YOUR enduring Word.

Luke 21:34,36 (GW) 34  “Make sure that you don't become drunk, hung over, and worried about life. Then that day could suddenly catch you by surprise … 36  Be alert at all times. Pray so that you have the power to escape everything that is about to happen and to stand in front of the Son of Man.”

PRAYER: YOU will find me alert and prayed up.

Hebrews 3:1,4 (GW) 1  Brothers and sisters, you are holy partners in a heavenly calling. So look carefully at Jesus, …. 4  After all, every house has a builder, but the builder of everything is God.

PRAYER: My eyes are on YOU.

Hebrews 3:6-7 (GW) 6  But Christ is a faithful son in charge of God's household. We are his household if we continue to have courage and to be proud of the confidence we have. 7  As the Holy Spirit says, “If you hear God speak today, don't be stubborn.

PRAYER: Confident in YOU, …and flexible.  YOUR will be done!

Hebrews 3:12-14 (GW) 12  Be careful, brothers and sisters, that none of you ever develop a wicked, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13  Encourage each other every day while you have the opportunity. If you do this, none of you will be deceived by sin and become stubborn. 14  After all, we will remain Christ's partners only if we continue to hold on to our original confidence until the end.

PRAYER: Raise up partners, mentors, and willingness to connect with other believers for the purpose of staying on track, spiritually.

Proverbs 20:21 (GW) 21  An inheritance quickly obtained in the beginning will never be blessed in the end.

NOTE: Quit praying for lotto’s and quick wins.

PRAYER: Forgive me for envying the reward and not enjoying the work YOU’ve given me to do.

Proverbs 20:27 (GW) 27  A person's soul is the LORD'S lamp. It searches his entire innermost being.

PRAYER: O Lord, YOU know me full well.  YOU know me better than I know me!!

Isaiah 11:2,6,9 (GW) 2  The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of advice and power, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD. 6  Wolves will live with lambs. …, and little children will lead them. 9  They will not hurt or destroy anyone anywhere on my holy mountain. The world will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD like water covering the sea.

PRAYER: An amazing time that YOU’ve made possible for me.

Isaiah 11:12,16 (GW) 12  He will raise a banner for the nations {to gather around}. He will gather the outcasts of Israel and bring together the scattered people of Judah from the four corners of the earth. 16  There will be a highway for the remaining few of his people left in Assyria like there was for Israel when it came out of Egypt.

PRAYER: Help the church to recollect the remnant and rise up to be a shining beacon to the world.

Isaiah 12:1-2,6 (GW) 1  At that time you will say, “I will praise you, O LORD. Although you had been angry with me, you turned your anger away from me, and you comforted me. 2  Look! God is my Savior. I am confident and unafraid, because the LORD is my strength and my song. He is my Savior.” 6  Shout loudly, and sing with joy, people of Zion! The Holy One of Israel is great. He is among you.”

PRAYER: Besides the grace YOU give and the power and joy – the fact that YOU are WITH us is amazing!!!!

THOT: in days where believers fall away, and the culture is unfriendly – the truly faithful rely on God’s daily Word.
