If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 7/17/2017 (09-06) #2030

Read: Luke 22:1-13, Heb 4:1-11, Prov 21:1-16, Isa 14-16

Luke 22:6 (GW) 6  So Judas promised to do it. He kept looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them when there was no crowd.

PRAYER: I’m not purposefully looking for ways to betray YOU, but I have.   I am sorry, I want to be a better follower of YOU.

Luke 22:13 (GW) 13  The disciples left. They found everything as Jesus had told them and prepared the Passover.

PRAYER: How is it that I ever doubt YOU?!!!

Hebrews 4:3,9 (GW) 3  We who believe are entering that place of rest.. … 9  …, a time of rest and worship exists for God's people.

PRAYER: I sincerely appreciate this gift.

Hebrews 4:7 (GW) 7  :… “If you hear God speak today, don't be stubborn.”

PRAYER: Got it!

Hebrews 4:11 (GW) 11  So we must make every effort to enter that place of rest. Then no one will be lost by following the example of those who refused to obey.

PRAYER: I’ll put in a good effort not just because YOU appreciate hard work, but because others might benefit from my example.

Proverbs 21:2-3 (GW) 2  A person thinks everything he does is right, but the LORD weighs hearts. 3  Doing what is right and fair is more acceptable to the LORD than offering a sacrifice.

PRAYER: I hope to do the right thing and bring YOU a sacrifice worthy of YOU.

Proverbs 21:9 (GW) 9  Better to live on a corner of a roof than to share a home with a quarreling woman.

PRAYER: …or a quarreling anybody.

Proverbs 21:13 (GW) 13  Whoever shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will call and not be answered.

PRAYER: I am / we are YOUR hand and feet of YOUR body.  May we be generous to the poor.

Isaiah 14:32 (GW) 32  How should we answer the messengers from the nations? {Tell them that} the LORD has laid Zion's foundation, and his humble people will find refuge in it.

PRAYER: I gotta remember that humility thing.

Isaiah 16:12,14 (GW) 12  When the people of Moab appear at the worship site, they will only wear themselves out. They will come into the holy place to pray, but they won't be able to. 14  But now the LORD says, “Moab's honor will be despised within three years. I will count them like workers count the years left of their contracts. In spite of their great number, the survivors will be very few and powerless.”

PRAYER: I don’t want our church to just grow in numbers, may it be a place of incredible devotion to YOU and to each other.

THOT: the true believer guards against conceit.  They remain generous, Word guided, and humble.

TUESDAY 7/18/2017 (09-07) #2031

Read: Luke 22:14-23, Heb 4:12-16, Prov 21:17-31, Isa 17-20

Luke 22:19-20 (GW) 19   Then Jesus took bread and spoke a prayer of thanksgiving. He broke the bread, gave it to them, and said, “This is my body, which is given up for you. Do this to remember me.” 20  When supper was over, he did the same with the cup. He said, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new promise made with my blood.”

PRAYER: A very expensive offering that I do remember, honor, and cherish.

Luke 22:22 (GW) 22  The Son of Man is going to die the way it has been planned for him. But how horrible it will be for that person who betrays him.”

NOTE: the disciples were given plenty of advance warnings about the future, they just didn’t seem to recall any of that.

PRAYER: Lord, forgive me the times I’ve read YOUR Word but didn’t really let it sink in.

Hebrews 4:12 (GW) 12  God's word is living and active. It is sharper than any two-edged sword and cuts as deep as the place where soul and spirit meet, the place where joints and marrow meet. God's word judges a person's thoughts and intentions.

PRAYER: Again I appreciate this powerful Word which YOU share with me.

Hebrews 4:13 (GW) 13  No creature can hide from God. Everything is uncovered and exposed for him to see. We must answer to him.

PRAYER: Every word, deed, and thought …in YOUR view.  Wow!

Hebrews 4:15-16 (GW) 15  We have a chief priest who is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. He was tempted in every way that we are, but he didn't sin. 16  So we can go confidently to the throne of God's kindness to receive mercy and find kindness, which will help us at the right time.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for YOUR sympathetic ways and the love that allows me to approach YOU at all.  I will try to remain faithful as I wait upon YOU.

Proverbs 21:19 (GW) 19  Better to live in a desert than with a quarreling and angry woman.

PRAYER: Male or female this is true.  May I not be that ‘quarreling somebody’.

Proverbs 21:25-26 (GW) 25  The desire of a lazy person will kill him because his hands refuse to work. 26  All day long he feels greedy, but a righteous person gives and does not hold back.

PRAYER: I will work hard and give generously.

Proverbs 21:31 (GW) 31  The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD.

PRAYER: All our earthly preparation can’t compare to the work of YOUR hands.

Isaiah 19:21 (GW) 21  So the LORD will make himself known to the Egyptians. The Egyptians will know the LORD when that day comes. They will worship with sacrifices and food offerings. They will make vows to the LORD and carry them out.

PRAYER: YOU have made YOURself known in my life.

THOT: God observes everything, yet He has this amazing desire to help us through the more difficult moments of our lives. Yet it is up to us to give Him the power to do that.

WEDNESDAY 7/19/2017 (09-08) #2032

Read: Luke 22:24-30, Heb 5, Prov 22:1-16, Isa 21-23

Luke 22:26 (GW) 26  But you're not going to be that way! Rather, the greatest among you must be like the youngest, and your leader must be like a servant.

PRAYER: Following YOUR example, I choose to serve.

Luke 22:29 (GW) 29  So as my Father has given me a kingdom, I'm giving it to you.

PRAYER: That is extraordinary. Wow!!!

Hebrews 5:8-9 (GW) 8  Although Jesus was the Son {of God}, he learned to be obedient through his sufferings. 9  After he had finished his work, he became the source of eternal salvation for everyone who obeys him.

NOTE: While grace is without works.  It is hard to look at Jesus’ herculean effort without wanting to demonstrate our faithfulness to Him (through obedience).

PRAYER: Lord, I do appreciate YOUR sacrifice. May my actions demonstrate that appreciation.

Hebrews 5:14 (GW) 14  However, solid food is for mature people, whose minds are trained by practice to know the difference between good and evil.

PRAYER: I’m not done growing.  Teach me, guide me, I’m a sponge ready to absorb whatever YOU give me.

Proverbs 22:1 (GW) 1  A good name is more desirable than great wealth. Respect is better than silver or gold.

PRAYER: I will strive to maintain a good reputation.

Proverbs 22:10 (GW) 10  Drive out a mocker, and conflict will leave. Quarreling and abuse will stop.

PRAYER: Sounds good to me.

Proverbs 22:13 (GW) 13  A lazy person says, “There's a lion outside! I'll be murdered in the streets!”

PRAYER: No more excuses.  I will be a hard worker even if there are ‘lions’ outside.

Isaiah 22:22 (GW) 22  I will place the key of the house of David around his neck. What he opens no one will shut. What he shuts no one will open.

PRAYER: I will trust YOU when the door is closed and when the window is opened.

THOT: Hard work, constant maturing, ever serving – all driven by grace and appreciation for God’s gift of eternal life.

THURSDAY 7/20/2017 (09-09) #2033

Read: Luke 22:31-38, Heb 6:1-12, Prov 22:17-29, Isa 24-26

Luke 22:31-32 (GW) 31   {Then the Lord said,} “Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has demanded to have you apostles for himself. He wants to separate you from me as a farmer separates wheat from husks. 32  But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith will not fail. So when you recover, strengthen the other disciples.”

PRAYER: Fail or triumph, I will share my witness of  YOUR grace and mercy (to me) to others.

Luke 22:38 (GW) 38  The disciples said, “Lord, look! Here are two swords!” Then Jesus said to them, “That's enough!”

PRAYER: Sometimes in our enthusiasm, we completely miss what YOU are saying to us.  Help me to stay on track.

Hebrews 6:6-8 (GW) 6  Yet, they have deserted {Christ}. They are crucifying the Son of God again and publicly disgracing him. Therefore, they cannot be led a second time to God. 7  God blesses the earth. So rain often falls on it, and it produces useful crops for farmers. 8  However, if the earth produces thorns and thistles, it is worthless and in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned.

PRAYER: Help our church to become and remain fruitful for YOU.

Hebrews 6:10 (GW) 10  God is fair. He won't forget what you've done or the love you've shown for him. You helped his holy people, and you continue to help them.

PRAYER: We will be a generous and compassionate body.

Hebrews 6:11-12 (GW) 11  We want each of you to prove that you're working hard so that you will remain confident until the end. 12  Then, instead of being lazy, you will imitate those who are receiving the promises through faith and patience.

PRAYER: I will look for good example of hard work and faithfulness. Then may I be an example to others.

Proverbs 22:24-25 (GW) 24  Do not be a friend of one who has a bad temper, and never keep company with a hothead, 25  or you will learn his ways and set a trap for yourself.

PRAYER: I will be selective in my friendships and I will manage my own emotions.

Proverbs 22:29 (GW) 29  Do you see a person who is efficient in his work? He will serve kings. He will not serve unknown people.

PRAYER: That’s me, efficient.  Well, help me with that, for sure.

Isaiah 25:1 (GW) 1  O LORD, you are my God. I will highly honor you; I will praise your name. You have done miraculous things. You have been completely reliable in carrying out your plans from long ago.

PRAYER: Who is trustworthy like YOU?!!!

Isaiah 26:4 (GW) 4  Trust the LORD always, because the LORD, the LORD alone, is an everlasting rock.

PRAYER: YOU make me feel safe.

Isaiah 26:19 (GW) 19  Your dead will live. Their corpses will rise. Those who lie dead in the dust will wake up and shout for joy, because your dew is a refreshing dew, and the earth will revive the spirits of the dead.

PRAYER: Awaken the sleeping church, the dead Christians, the joyless attendees.  May YOUR revival happen here.

THOT: The Jesus follower is a hard worker, who enjoys the security, joy, and direction of the Lord.

Friday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

FRIDAY 7/21/2017 (09-10) #2034

Read: Luke 22:39-46, Heb 6:13-20, Prov 23:1-18, Isa 27-28

Luke 22:40-41 (GW) 40  When he arrived, he said to them, “Pray that you won't be tempted.” 41  Then he withdrew from them about a stone's throw, knelt down, and prayed,

PRAYER: If YOU need that alone time in prayer, certainly we should do that too, right?!!!

Luke 22:43-44 (GW) 43  Then an angel from heaven appeared to him and gave him strength. 44  So he prayed very hard in anguish. His sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground.

PRAYER: I’ve never prayed that hard.  But I know what YOU were facing was bigger than anything I could imagine.  Thankyou!

Luke 22:45-46 (GW) 45  When Jesus ended his prayer, he got up and went to the disciples. He found them asleep and overcome with sadness. 46  He said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Get up, and pray that you won't be tempted.”

PRAYER: May YOUR house be filled with prayer again.

Hebrews 6:15 (GW) 15  So Abraham received what God promised because he waited patiently for it.

PRAYER: I’m learning to wait.

Hebrews 6:18-19 (GW) 18  God did this so that we would be encouraged. God cannot lie …. Those of us who have taken refuge in him hold on to the confidence we have been given. 19  We have this confidence as a sure and strong anchor for our lives. This confidence goes into the {holy} place behind the curtain

PRAYER: I trust YOU.

Proverbs 23:4 (GW) 4  Do not wear yourself out getting rich. Be smart enough to stop.

PRAYER: I pray for my American brothers and sisters who struggle with this daily.

Proverbs 23:12-14 (GW) 12  Live a more disciplined life, and listen carefully to words of knowledge. 13  Do not hesitate to discipline a child. If you spank him, he will not die. 14  Spank him yourself, and you will save his soul from hell.

PRAYER: I will give and receive discipline in love.

Proverbs 23:17-18 (GW) 17  Do not envy sinners in your heart. Instead, continue to fear the LORD. 18  There is indeed a future, and your hope will never be cut off.

PRAYER: YOU win.  My eyes I refocus on YOU, not the things of this world.

Isaiah 28:5-6 (GW) 5  When that day comes, the LORD of Armies will be like a glorious crown for his few remaining people. 6  He will give a spirit of justice to those who judge. He will give strength to those who defend the city gates in battle.

PRAYER: I will also try to be sensitive to the needs of the ignored and abused.

Isaiah 28:12-14 (GW) 12  He will say to them, This is a place for comfort. This is a place of rest for those who are tired. This is a place for them to rest.” But they weren't willing to listen. 13  The LORD speaks utter nonsense to them. That is why they will fall backwards. That is why they will be hurt, trapped, and captured. 14  So hear the word of the LORD, you foolish talkers who rule the people in Jerusalem.

PRAYER: We got to quit talking so much and listen to YOU more.  Speak Lord, YOUR servant is listening.

Isaiah 28:16 (GW) 16  This is what the Almighty LORD says: I am going to lay a rock in Zion, a rock that has been tested, a precious cornerstone, a solid foundation. Whoever believes {in him} will not worry.

PRAYER: Lord

Isaiah 28:23-24,28 (GW) 23  Open your ears, and listen to me! Pay attention, and hear me! 24  Does a farmer go on plowing every day so he can plant? Does he continue to break up the soil and make furrows in the ground? 26  God will guide him in judgment, and his God will teach him.

PRAYER: I have prepared my heart to listen.  And now,…I listen!  Guide me, direct me.

THOT: God loves to hear us talk, and is pleased to speak into our lives. But we have to stop to listen.
