If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 7/31/2017 (09-16) #2044

Read: Luke 23:26-31, Heb 9:11-28, Prov 26:1-16, Isa 42-43

Luke 23:26 (GW) 26  As the soldiers led Jesus away, they grabbed a man named Simon, who was from the city of Cyrene. Simon was coming into Jerusalem. They laid the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.

PRAYER: I know that bearing my cross is anything like the cross YOU bore for us.

Luke 23:27-28 (GW) 27  A large crowd followed Jesus. The women in the crowd cried and sang funeral songs for him. 28  Jesus turned to them and said, “You women of Jerusalem, don't cry for me! Rather, cry for yourselves and your children!

PRAYER: Yet. I can’t help but feel bad that YOU suffered so for us.  Thank YOU, though!!!

Hebrews 9:15 (GW) 15  Because Christ offered himself to God, he is able to bring a new promise from God. Through his death he paid the price to set people free from the sins they committed under the first promise. He did this so that those who are called can be guaranteed an inheritance that will last forever.

PRAYER: That is an incredible deal.

Hebrews 9:22 (GW) 22  As Moses' Teachings tell us, blood was used to cleanse almost everything, because if no blood is shed, no sins can be forgiven.

QUOTE:

Hebrews 9:27-28 (GW) 27  People die once, and after that they are judged. 28  Likewise, Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of humanity, and after that he will appear a second time. This time he will not deal with sin, but he will save those who eagerly wait for him.

NOTE: While people born once will die twice, those who are born again die only once.

PRAYER: Lord, thank YOU for securing for me something I could never achieve on my own.

Proverbs 26:4,6,11 (GW) 4  Do not answer a fool with his own stupidity, or you will be like him. 6  Whoever uses a fool to send a message cuts off his own feet and brings violence upon himself. 11  As a dog goes back to its vomit, {so} a fool repeats his stupidity.

PRAYER: Help me to be wiser.

Proverbs 26:13,16 (GW) 13  A lazy person says, “There's a ferocious lion out on the road! There's a lion loose in the streets!” 16  A lazy person thinks he is wiser than seven people who give a sensible answer.

PRAYER: I will not give excuse, I will give hard work.

Isaiah 42:1 (GW) 1  Here is my servant, whom I support. Here is my chosen one, with whom I am pleased. I have put my Spirit on him. He will bring justice to the nations.

PRAYER: I will also to be pursue justice for others.

Isaiah 42:6-7 (GW) 6  I, the LORD, have called you to do what is right. I will take hold of your hand. I will protect you. I will appoint you as my promise to the people, as my light to the nations. 7  You will give sight to the blind, bring prisoners out of prisons, and bring those who live in darkness out of dungeons.

PRAYER: May our church be the place where the lost and the hurting find positive transformation.

Isaiah 42:8 (GW) 8  I am the LORD; that is my name. I will not give my glory to anyone else or the praise I deserve to idols.

PRAYER: To YOU goes all the glory.

Isaiah 42:9 (GW) 9  What I said in the past has come true. I will reveal new things before they happen.

PRAYER: So we’re listening, Lord.

Isaiah 42:10 (GW) 10  Sing a new song to the LORD. Sing his praise from the ends of the earth, you people who sail on the seas and all the creatures that live in them, you coastlands and all who live on them.

PRAYER: Everyone should be a singing sailor.

Isaiah 43:2 (GW) 2  When you go through the sea, I am with you. When you go through rivers, they will not sweep you away. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned, and the flames will not harm you.

PRAYER: Amazing, thank YOU!!!

Isaiah 43:6-8 (GW) 6  I will say to the north, “Give them up,” and to the south, “Do not keep them.” Bring my sons from far away and my daughters from the ends of the earth. 7  Bring everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made. 8  Bring the people who are blind but still have eyes, the people who are deaf but still have ears.

PRAYER: Out of the north, south, east, and west – help us to find the blind, deaf, and the wanderers.  May we lovingly lead them to YOU.

Isaiah 43:18-19 (GW) 18  Forget what happened in the past, and do not dwell on events from long ago. 19  I am going to do something new. It is already happening. Don't you recognize it? I will clear a way in the desert. I will make rivers on dry land.

PRAYER: Good advice, I’m letting go.  Do what YOU do!

Isaiah 43:25 (GW) 25  I alone am the one who is going to wipe away your rebellious actions for my own sake. I will not remember your sins {anymore}.

PRAYER: thank YOU!

THOT: because of God’s expensive blood bought grace, I can sing a new song.  May more and more people see in me the blood of Jesus flowing actively and every day.

PRAYER: YOUR love, patience, and devotion is incredible. We can be so selfish, rude, and unappreciative.  Thank YOU for YOUR forgiveness.

Hebrews 10:17-18 (GW) 17  Then he adds, “I will no longer hold their sins and their disobedience against them.” 18  When sins are forgiven, there is no longer any need to sacrifice for sins.

PRAYER: Mystified by YOUR mercy and grace, I never-the-less receive this incredible gift.

PRAYER: Amen, so be it.

Isaiah 44:9-11 (GW) 9  All who make idols are nothing. Their precious treasures are worthless. Their own witnesses do not see or know anything, so they will be put to shame. 10  Nothing comes from making gods or casting metal idols. 11  Everyone associated with the gods will be put to shame. The craftsmen themselves are only human. Let them all get together and take their stand. They will be frightened and ashamed together.

PRAYER: Forgive me for the times I have turned to anything but YOU for my comfort, or an answer.  How foolish.

Isaiah 44:22 (GW) 22  I made your rebellious acts disappear like a thick cloud and your sins like the morning mist. Come back to me, because I have reclaimed you.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for even wanting me.

Isaiah 44:23 (GW) 23  Sing with joy, you heavens, because the LORD has done this. Rejoice, you deep places of the earth. Break into shouts of joy, you mountains, you forests and every tree in them. The LORD has reclaimed Jacob. He will display his glory in Israel.

PRAYER: Display YOUR glory in me, in us, in YOUR church.  May we joyfully reflect the powerful effect YOU have on us.

Isaiah 44:26 (GW) 26  He confirms the word of his servant and fulfills the plan of his messengers. He says about Jerusalem, “It will be inhabited.” He says about the cities of Judah, “They will be rebuilt.” He says about their ruins, “I will restore them.”

PRAYER: Take the tattered places and lives and rebuild, renew, restore us.

Isaiah 45:22 (GW) 22  Turn to me and be saved, all who live at the ends of the earth, because I am God, and there is no other.

PRAYER: I trust YOUR Word, I will adhere to YOUR Word.

THOT: God is more interested in revival than we are, so why live in guilt, why look anywhere else. Look to Him!

Luke 23:42-43 (GW) 42  Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you enter your kingdom.” 43  Jesus said to him, “I can guarantee this truth: Today you will be with me in paradise.”

PRAYER: Lord, help me to reach people early enough that they have time to enjoy some of YOUR pre-heavenly benefits.

Hebrews 10:19,22-23 (GW) 19  Brothers and sisters, because of the blood of Jesus we can now confidently go into the holy place…. 22  We have been sprinkled {with his blood} to free us from a guilty conscience, and our bodies have been washed with clean water. So we must continue to come {to him} with a sincere heart and strong faith. 23  We must continue to hold firmly to our declaration of faith. The one who made the promise is faithful.

PRAYER: I appreciate YOUR sacrifice for my sins, YOUR cleansing of my conscience, and YOUR faithfulness.  I’ll try to be more confident and consistent in my walk.

Hebrews 10:24-25 (GW) 24  We must also consider how to encourage each other to show love and to do good things. 25  We should not stop gathering together with other believers, as some of you are doing. Instead, we must continue to encourage each other even more as we see the day of the Lord coming.

PRAYER: Help the church to grow in love and devotion to one another and our mission to the world.

Hebrews 10:35-36 (GW) 35  So don't lose your confidence. It will bring you a great reward. 36  You need endurance so that after you have done what God wants you to do, you can receive what he has promised.

PRAYER: I won’t quit.  I believe in YOU.

Hebrews 10:38-39 (GW) 38  The person who has God's approval will live by faith. But if he turns back, I will not be pleased with him.” 39  We don't belong with those who turn back and are destroyed. Instead, we belong with those who have faith and are saved.

PRAYER: I’m not a quitter. I get spooked, but I won’t quit.  I’ve got YOU.

Proverbs 27:1 (GW) 1  Do not brag about tomorrow, because you do not know what another day may bring.

QUOTE:

Proverbs 27:5-6 (GW) 5  Open criticism is better than unexpressed love. 6  Wounds made by a friend are intended to help, but an enemy's kisses are too much to bear.

PRAYER: May I love enough to share honestly and graciously with my friends.  And may I receive tough words from those who love me.

Isaiah 46:5 (GW) 5  To whom will you compare me and make me equal? To whom will you compare me so that we can be alike?

PRAYER: There is none like YOU.

Isaiah 46:10 (GW) 10  From the beginning I revealed the end. From long ago I told you things that had not yet happened, saying, My plan will stand, and I'll do everything I intended to do.

PRAYER: I will trust YOUR Word.

Isaiah 46:12-13 (GW) 12  Listen to me, you stubborn people who are far from being righteous. 13  I'll bring my righteousness near; it isn't far away. My salvation will not be delayed. I'll provide salvation for Zion and bring my glory to Israel.

PRAYER: Clean us up and be glorified in YOUR church.

Isaiah 47:8,14-15 (GW) 8  Now then, listen to this, you lover of pleasure. You live securely and say to yourself, “I'm the only one, and there's no one else. ….” 13  You are worn out by your many plans. …. 14  They are like straw. Fire burns them. ….

PRAYER: I pray for all my American neighbors who are burning out chasing after unsatisfying dreams.  They need YOU.  They need me to introduce them to YOU.

Isaiah 48:6,8-9 (GW) 6  … From now on I will reveal to you new things, hidden things that you do not know. 8  You have never heard about them. You have never known about them. Your ears have never been open to hear them before. I know that you've acted very treacherously and that you have been called a rebel since you were born. 9  For my name's sake I'll be patient. For my glory's sake I'll hold my anger back from you, rather than destroy you.

PRAYER: How I appreciate YOUR patience and YOUR plans.

Isaiah 48:10-11 (GW) 10  I have refined you, but not like silver. I have tested you in the furnace of suffering. 11  I am doing this for myself, only for myself. Why should my name be dishonored? I will not give my glory to anyone else.

PRAYER: I don’t like the suffering, but I do like burning off the bad stuff.

THOT: God has such high standards for the believer yet can be so patient and forgiving.

Luke 23:46 (GW) 46  Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I entrust my spirit.” After he said this, he died.

QUOTE:

Luke 23:49 (GW) 49  All his friends, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance and watched everything.

PRAYER: I hope to be more involved, but I don’t blame them for taking some precaution.

Hebrews 11:1 (GW) 1  Faith assures us of things we expect and convinces us of the existence of things we cannot see.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for this gift of faith to see what can’t be seen and expect the unexpected.

Hebrews 11:6 (GW) 6  No one can please God without faith. Whoever goes to God must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

PRAYER: I struggle with this.  But I will try to walk by faith today.

Hebrews 11:13,16 (GW) 13  All these people died having faith. They didn't receive the things that God had promised them, but they saw these things coming in the distant future and rejoiced. They acknowledged that they were living as strangers with no permanent home on earth. … 16  Instead, these men were longing for a better country—a heavenly country. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God. He has prepared a city for them.

PRAYER: I realize that those things on earth that I believed for might not happen, but that YOU’ve got something far better for me in my real home (in heaven).

Proverbs 27:15-16 (GW) 15  Constantly dripping water on a rainy day is like a quarreling woman. 16  Whoever can control her can control the wind. He can even pick up olive oil with his right hand.

PRAYER: Woman or man, it’s a problem.  Help me to be patient.  And yes, I got the sarcasm.

Proverbs 27:17 (GW) 17  {As} iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens the wits of another.

PRAYER: May I be a blessing to others, and may I be receptive to them blessing me.

Proverbs 27:20 (GW) 20  Hell and decay are never satisfied, and a person's eyes are never satisfied.

PRAYER: Sounds a little like earth, or at least America, huh?!!!

Isaiah 49:4 (GW) 4  But I said, I have worked hard for nothing. I have used my strength, but I didn't accomplish anything. Yet, certainly my case is in the LORD'S hands, and my reward is with my God.”

PRAYER: I know this is talking about YOU.  But I certainly can relate.  I will remain faithful though not as seemly fruitful

Isaiah 49:9-12 (GW) 9  You will say to the prisoners, “Come out,” and to those who are in darkness, “Show yourselves.” They will graze along every path, and they will find pastures on every bare hill. 10  They will never be hungry or thirsty, nor will the sun or the burning, hot wind strike them. The one who has compassion on them will lead them and guide them to springs. 11  I will turn all my mountains into roads, and my highways will be restored. 12  They will come from far away. They will come from the north and from the west, and they will come from the land of Sinim.

PRAYER: May YOUR glorious presence bring revival to our land.

Isaiah 49:15-16 (GW) 15  Can a woman forget her nursing child? Will she have no compassion on the child from her womb? Although mothers may forget, I will not forget you. 16  I have engraved you on the palms of my hands. Your walls are always in my presence.

PRAYER: Thank YOU, Lord.  I’ll quit whining now!  I know that I am loved.  YOUR sacrifice is proof positive.

Isaiah 50:4 (GW) 4  The Almighty LORD will teach me what to say, so I will know how to encourage weary people. Morning after morning he will wake me to listen like a student.

PRAYER: Empowered by YOUR Word from the start of the day, may I be in mission to reach more weary people

Isaiah 50:10 (GW) 10  Who among you fears the LORD and obeys his servant? Let those who walk in darkness and have no light trust the name of the LORD and depend upon their God.

PRAYER: Even as a believer, in the dark valley I know I can trust in YOU.

THOT: the Jesus Follower doesn’t have a easy road to walk necessarily.  It requires faith in a God who directs, encourages, and never abandons us.

Friday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

FRIDAY 8/4/2017 (09-20) #2048

Read: Luke 23:50-56, Heb 11:17-31, Prov 28:1-14, Isa 51-53

Luke 23:54-55 (GW) 54  It was Friday, and the day of worship was just beginning. 55  The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed closely behind Joseph. They observed the tomb and how his body was laid in it.

PRAYER: I love how it’s the women who are still bravely staying close to Jesus.

Luke 23:56 (GW) 56  Then they went back to the city and prepared spices and perfumes. But on the day of worship they rested according to the commandment.

PRAYER: May next weekend we take a holy moment to rest in YOU and give YOU the glory YOU well deserve.

Hebrews 11:19 (GW) 19  Abraham believed that God could bring Isaac back from the dead. Abraham did receive Isaac back from the dead in a figurative sense.

NOTE: Abe, like us, was figuring out in his head how God was going to answer.  But then he acted in faith not really knowing what God would do.

PRAYER: I want to be faithful like Abraham.  I do trust YOU, I want to trust YOU, I’m going to trust YOU.

Hebrews 11:25-26 (GW) 25  He chose to suffer with God's people rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a little while. 26  He thought that being insulted for Christ would be better than having the treasures of Egypt. He was looking ahead to his reward.

PRAYER: I choose YOU.  Help me to resist the temptations of this world.

Hebrews 11:27 (GW) 27  Faith led Moses to leave Egypt without being afraid of the king's anger. Moses didn't give up but continued as if he could actually see the invisible God.

PRAYER: wow, I’d like to do that.

Proverbs 28:1 (GW) 1  A wicked person flees when no one is chasing him, but righteous people are as bold as lions.

PRAYER: I will be a bold person of integrity

Proverbs 28:11 (GW) 11  A rich person is wise in his own eyes, but a poor person with understanding sees right through him.

QUOTE:

Proverbs 28:13 (GW) 13  Whoever covers over his sins does not prosper. Whoever confesses and abandons them receives compassion.

PRAYER: I confess to YOU my shortcomings, my sins, and I ask for help to conquer these areas in my life.

Isaiah 51:1 (GW) 1  Listen to me, you people who pursue what is right and seek the LORD. Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were dug.

PRAYER: YOU are my rock, I am the work of YOUR hands.  I refocus my attention on YOU, Lord.

Isaiah 51:3 (GW) 3  So the LORD will comfort Zion. He will comfort all those who live among its ruins. He will make its desert like Eden. He will make its wilderness like the garden of the LORD. Joy and gladness will be found in it, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

PRAYER: Yes! That sounds awesome.

Isaiah 51:7 (GW) 7  Listen to me, you people who know righteousness, you people who have my teachings in your hearts. Don't be afraid of being insulted by people. Don't be discouraged by their ridicule.

Isaiah 52:7 (GW) 7  How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces the good news, “All is well.” He brings the good news, announces salvation, and tells Zion that its God rules as king.

PRAYER: I will be a brave witness for YOU

Isaiah 51:11 (GW) 11  The people ransomed by the LORD will return. They will come to Zion singing with joy. Everlasting happiness will be on their heads {as a crown}. They will be glad and joyful. They will have no sorrow or grief.

PRAYER: May YOU be lifted up and the people explode in joy.

Isaiah 52:2 (GW) 2  Shake the dust from yourselves. Get up, captive Jerusalem. Free yourself from the chains around your neck, captive people of Zion.

PRAYER: Help us to take responsibility for ourselves in cleaning our lives up.

Isaiah 53:2-3,5 (GW) 2  He grew up in his presence like a young tree, like a root out of dry ground. He had no form or majesty that would make us look at him. He had nothing in his appearance that would make us desire him. 3  He was despised and rejected by people. He was a man of sorrows, familiar with suffering. He was despised like one from whom people turn their faces, and we didn't consider him to be worth anything. 5  He was wounded for our rebellious acts. He was crushed for our sins. He was punished so that we could have peace, and we received healing from his wounds.

PRAYER: There is none like YOU.  Help us to reach people around us who understand rejection and could use a Savior like YOU.

Isaiah 53:6,12 (GW) 6  We have all strayed like sheep. Each one of us has turned to go his own way, and the LORD has laid all our sins on him. 12  So I will give him a share among the mighty, and he will divide the prize with the strong, because he poured out his life in death and he was counted with sinners. He carried the sins of many. He intercedes for those who are rebellious.

PRAYER: YOUR love and patience are amazing.

THOT: How can you not have faith in a God that goes out of His way to bless the rebellious, to love on the wayward, and to bestow joy on those who had once fallen away.  Amazing!!!
