If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 8/7/2017 (09-21) #2051

Read: Luke 24:1-12, Heb 11:32-40, Prov 28:15-28, Isa 54-55

Luke 24:5-6 (GW) 5  The women were terrified and bowed to the ground. The men asked the women, “Why are you looking among the dead for the living one? 6  He's not here. He has been brought back to life! Remember what he told you while he was still in Galilee.

PRAYER: What a cool moment that had to be!

Luke 24:7-8 (GW) 7  He said, ‘The Son of Man must be handed over to sinful people, be crucified, and come back to life on the third day.'” 8  Then the women remembered what Jesus had told them.

PRAYER: From time to time, I need YOU to shake up my memory banks also.

Luke 24:11 (GW) 11  The apostles thought that the women's story didn't make any sense, and they didn't believe them.

PRAYER: that figures.

Hebrews 11:33-34 (GW) 33  Through faith they conquered kingdoms, did what God approved, and received what God had promised. They shut the mouths of lions, 34  put out raging fires, and escaped death. They found strength when they were weak. They were powerful in battle and defeated other armies.

PRAYER: I will be an example of a faith that works.

Hebrews 11:36-40 (GW) 36  Some were made fun of and whipped, and some were chained and put in prison. 37  Some were stoned to death, sawed in half, and killed with swords. Some wore the skins of sheep and goats. Some were poor, abused, and mistreated. 38  The world didn't deserve these good people. Some wandered around in deserts and mountains and lived in caves and holes in the ground. 39  All these people were known for their faith, but none of them received what God had promised. 40  God planned to give us something very special so that we would gain eternal life with them.

PRAYER: I fully realize that this is not heaven.  I also know that when I do get there, thanks to YOUR grace, I won’t regret anything.

Proverbs 28:19 (GW) 19  Whoever works his land will have plenty to eat. Whoever chases unrealistic dreams will have plenty of nothing.

PRAYER: I’ll be working hard and dreaming less.

Proverbs 28:25 (GW) 25  A greedy person stirs up a fight, but whoever trusts the LORD prospers.

PRAYER: I trust YOU.

Proverbs 28:26 (GW) 26  Whoever trusts his own heart is a fool. Whoever walks in wisdom will survive.

PRAYER: Been there, done that!

Proverbs 28:27 (GW) 27  Whoever gives to the poor lacks nothing. Whoever ignores the poor receives many curses.

PRAYER: Help me to grow in generosity.

Isaiah 54:1-3,11-12 (GW) 1  Sing with joy, you childless women who never gave birth to children. Break into shouts of joy, you women who never had birth pains. “There will be more children of women who have been deserted than there are children of married women,” says the LORD. 2  Expand the space of your tent. Stretch out the curtains of your tent, and don't hold back. Lengthen your tent ropes, and drive in the tent pegs. 3  You will spread out to the right and left. Your descendants will take over other nations, and they will resettle deserted cities. 11  “You suffering, comfortless, storm-ravaged city! I will rebuild your city with precious stones. I will reset your foundations with sapphires. 12  I will rebuild your towers with rubies, your gates with sparkling stones, and all your walls with precious stones.”

PRAYER: Rebuild, repair, renew please.

Isaiah 54:10 (GW) 10  The mountains may move, and the hills may shake, but my kindness will never depart from you. My promise of peace will never change,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

PRAYER: Amazing and yet so undeserved. Thank YOU!!!!

Isaiah 54:17 (GW) 17  No weapon that has been made to be used against you will succeed. You will have an answer for anyone who accuses you. This is the inheritance of the LORD'S servants. Their victory comes from me,” declares the LORD.

PRAYER: I trust in YOU.

Isaiah 55:1-2 (GW) 1  “Listen! Whoever is thirsty, come to the water! Whoever has no money can come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk. You don't have to pay; its free! 2  Why do you spend money on what cannot nourish you and your wages on what does not satisfy you? Listen carefully to me: Eat what is good, and enjoy the best foods.

PRAYER: I realize I have invest poorly many times.

Isaiah 55:3 (GW) 3  Open your ears, and come to me! Listen so that you may live! I will make an everlasting promise to you— the blessings I promised to David.

PRAYER: Speak Lord, this servant is listening.

Isaiah 55:6 (GW) 6  Seek the LORD while he may be found. Call on him while he is near.

QUOTE:

Isaiah 55:8-9 (GW) 8  “My thoughts are not your thoughts, and my ways are not your ways,” declares the LORD. 9  “Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts are higher than your thoughts.”

QUOTE:

Isaiah 55:11 (GW) 11  My word, which comes from my mouth, is like the rain and snow. It will not come back to me without results. It will accomplish whatever I want and achieve whatever I send it to do.”

QUOTE:

Isaiah 55:12 (GW) 12  You will go out with joy and be led out in peace. The mountains and the hills will break into songs of joy in your presence, and all the trees will clap their hands.

PRAYER: All praise, glory and honor to YOU!!!

THOT: God is so gracious, majestic, powerful, trustworthy, and generous.  We can all stand to learn from Him.

Tuesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

TUESDAY 8/8/2017 (09-22) #2052

Read: Luke 24:13-27, Heb 12:1-13, Prov 29:1-14, Isa 56-58

Luke 24:16,25 (GW) 16  Although they saw him, they didn't recognize him. … 25  Then Jesus said to them, “How foolish you are! You're so slow to believe everything the prophets said!

PRAYER: I have those foggy, slow to believe moments too.  Thank YOU for being so patient with me.

Luke 24:27 (GW) 27  Then he began with Moses' Teachings and the Prophets to explain to them what was said about him throughout the Scriptures.

PRAYER: As I read YOUR Word, continue to open my heart and eyes to what I need to receive.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (GW) 1  Since we are surrounded by so many examples {of faith}, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up. 2  We must focus on Jesus, the source and goal of our faith. He saw the joy ahead of him, so he endured death on the cross and ignored the disgrace it brought him. Then he received the highest position in heaven, the one next to the throne of God.

PRAYER: I will not quit. My eyes are on YOU.

Hebrews 12:4 (GW) 4  You struggle against sin, but your struggles haven't killed you.

PRAYER: Yep, I can do this.

Hebrews 12:5-7,10-11 (GW) 5  You have forgotten the encouraging words that God speaks to you as his children: “My child, pay attention when the Lord disciplines you. Don't give up when he corrects you. 6  The Lord disciplines everyone he loves. He severely disciplines everyone he accepts as his child.” 7  Endure your discipline. God corrects you as a father corrects his children. All children are disciplined by their fathers. … 10  For a short time our fathers disciplined us as they thought best. Yet, God disciplines us for our own good so that we can become holy like him. 11  We don't enjoy being disciplined. It always seems to cause more pain than joy. But later on, those who learn from that discipline have peace that comes from doing what is right.

PRAYER: I’m hanging on.  I want to be more like YOU, and I like how I feel about myself when I’ve get it right.

Proverbs 29:1 (GW) 1  A person who will not bend after many warnings will suddenly be broken beyond repair.

PRAYER: I humble myself.  Mold me and shape me, Lord.

Proverbs 29:7 (GW) 7  A righteous person knows the just cause of the poor. A wicked person does not understand this.

PRAYER: I will try to always act justly and help those in need.

Proverbs 29:11 (GW) 11  A fool expresses all his emotions, but a wise person controls them.

PRAYER: Help me to keep control of that.

Isaiah 56:3,5 (GW) 3  Foreigners who have joined the LORD should not say, “The LORD will separate us from his people.” Castrated men should not say, “We're only dead trees!”… 5  Inside my house and within my walls, I will give them something better than sons and daughters. I will give them a monument and a name. I will give them a permanent name that will not be forgotten.

PRAYER: YOUR love and grace extended to someone like me is amazing.

Isaiah 56:7 (GW) 7  Then I will bring them to my holy mountain and make them happy in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on my altar, because my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.

PRAYER: Happy in the House of Prayer.  Let’s go!   May this coming weekend’s worship be loaded with prayers that bless YOU.

Isaiah 57:13-14 (GW) 13  When you cry for help, let your collection of idols save you. A wind will carry them all away. A breath will take them away. But whoever trusts me will possess the land and inherit my holy mountain. 14  It will be said: Build a road! Build a road! Prepare the way! Remove every obstacle in the way of my people!”

PRAYER: Help us to clean up our lives, our church, and even our country.

Isaiah 57:15 (GW) 15  The High and Lofty One lives forever, and his name is holy. This is what he says: I live in a high and holy place. But I am with those who are crushed and humble. I will renew the spirit of those who are humble and the courage of those who are crushed.

PRAYER: Thank YOU, Lord.

Isaiah 57:18-19 (GW) 18  I've seen their {sinful} ways, but I'll heal them. I'll guide them and give them rest. I'll comfort them and their mourners. 19  I'll create praise on their lips: “Perfect peace to those both far and near.” I'll heal them,” says the LORD.

PRAYER: Thank YOU.  And may we shine a little brighter for YOU.

Isaiah 58:6-7 (GW) 6  This is the kind of fasting I have chosen: Loosen the chains of wickedness, untie the straps of the yoke, let the oppressed go free, and break every yoke. 7  Share your food with the hungry, take the poor and homeless into your house, and cover them with clothes when you see {them} naked. Don't refuse to help your relatives.

PRAYER: May I learn to be as generous as YOU.

Isaiah 58:8-12 (GW) 8  Then your light will break through like the dawn, and you will heal quickly. Your righteousness will go ahead of you, and the glory of the LORD will guard you from behind. 9  Then you will call, and the LORD will answer. You will cry for help, and he will say, “Here I am!” Get rid of that yoke. Don't point your finger and say wicked things. 10  If you give some of your own food to {feed} those who are hungry and to satisfy {the needs of} those who are humble, then your light will rise in the dark, and your darkness will become as bright as the noonday sun. 11  The LORD will continually guide you and satisfy you even in sun-baked places. He will strengthen your bones. You will become like a watered garden and like a spring whose water does not stop flowing. 12  Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the foundations of past generations. You will be called the Rebuilder of Broken Walls and the Restorer of Streets Where People Live.

PRAYER: That sounds awesome.  May YOUR role in our lives be obvious to everyone in our community.

THOT: sin is a distraction.  We need discipline, lots of prayer, a commitment to care for the needs of other, and perseverance.

Wednesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

WEDNESDAY 8/9/2017 (09-23) #2053

Read: Luke 24:28-35, Heb 12:14-29, Prov 29:15-27, Isa 59-61

Luke 24:30-31 (GW) 30  While he was at the table with them, he took bread and blessed it. He broke the bread and gave it to them. 31  Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. But he vanished from their sight.

PRAYER: Open my eyes today.

Luke 24:32 (GW) 32  They said to each other, “Weren't we excited when he talked with us on the road and opened up the meaning of the Scriptures for us?”

PRAYER: YOUR Word is enlivening, instructive, and life changing.  Thank YOU for letting me receive it.

Hebrews 12:14 (GW) 14  Try to live peacefully with everyone, and try to live holy lives, because if you don't, you will not see the Lord.

PRAYER: I know I’m saved by grace, but may my life truly reflect YOUR love and peace.

Hebrews 12:15 (GW) 15  Make sure that everyone has kindness from God so that bitterness doesn't take root and grow up to cause trouble that corrupts many of you.

PRAYER: Bitterness bad!!!  Kindness good!! Got it!

Hebrews 12:25 (GW) 25  Be careful that you do not refuse to listen when God speaks. Your ancestors didn't escape when they refused to listen to God, who warned them on earth. We certainly won't escape if we turn away from God, who warns us from heaven.

PRAYER: I’m all ears today, Lord.

Hebrews 12:28 (GW) 28  Therefore, we must be thankful that we have a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Because we are thankful, we must serve God with fear and awe in a way that pleases him.

PRAYER: Lord, YOU are my rock.  I serve YOU today.

Proverbs 29:15 (GW) 15  A spanking and a warning produce wisdom, but an undisciplined child disgraces his mother.

PRAYER: But in love, right?!!

Proverbs 29:23 (GW) 23  A person's pride will humiliate him, but a humble spirit gains honor.

PRAYER: Help me to be a humble servant to YOU and to others.

Isaiah 59:1-2 (GW) 1  The LORD is not too weak to save or his ear too deaf to hear. 2  But your wrongs have separated you from your God, and your sins have made him hide his face so that he doesn't hear you.

PRAYER: I’ve been here before and I didn’t like it.  I want to live my life in a way that honors YOU.

Isaiah 59:9,13 (GW) 9  That is why justice is far from us, and righteousness doesn't reach us. We hope for light, but we walk in darkness. We hope for brightness, but we walk in gloom. 13  We have rebelled and denied the LORD. We have turned away from our God. We have spoken about oppression and revolt. We have conceived and uttered lies in our hearts.

PRAYER: We’ve been bad.  We can speak better and do better.  Help us to be people of justice and righteousness.

Isaiah 59:21 (GW) 21  “This is my promise to them,” says the LORD. “My Spirit, who is on you, and my words that I put in your mouth will not leave you. They will be with your children and your grandchildren permanently,” says the LORD.

PRAYER: That is so incredible.  YOU on me, YOUR Holy Word in me.  Wow!!!!

Isaiah 60:1-3 (GW) 1  Arise! Shine! Your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has dawned. 2  Darkness now covers the earth, and thick darkness covers the nations. But the LORD dawns, and his glory appears over you. 3  Nations will come to your light, and kings will come to the brightness of your dawn.

PRAYER: May the church arise and shine bright in these darkened days.

Isaiah 60:4-5,22 (GW) 4  “Look up, look around, and watch. All of your people assemble and come to you. Your sons come from far away. Your daughters are carried in their arms. 5  Then you will see this and rejoice, and your heart will be thrilled with joy, because the riches of the sea will be brought to you. The wealth of the nations will come to you. 22  The smallest of them will become a family. The weakest of them will become a mighty nation. At the right time I, the LORD, will make it happen quickly.”

PRAYER: Bring us the broken, the lost, the prodigals.  May the church shine for them and then with them as we reach more and more weak (and even some wealthy).

Isaiah 60:10-11 (GW) 10  “Foreigners will rebuild your walls, and their kings will serve you. In my anger I struck you, but in my favor I have compassion on you. 11  Your gates will always be open. They will never be closed day or night so that people may bring you the wealth of nations, with their kings led as prisoners.

PRAYER: Help the church’s ‘old guard’ give way to the new leadership YOU will raise up among us.

Isaiah 61:1-3 (GW) 1  The Spirit of the Almighty LORD is with me because the LORD has anointed me to deliver good news to humble people. He has sent me to heal those who are brokenhearted, to announce that captives will be set free and prisoners will be released. 2  {He has sent me} to announce the year of the LORD'S good will and the day of our God's vengeance, to comfort all those who grieve. 3  {He has sent me} to provide for all those who grieve in Zion, to give them crowns instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of {tears of} grief, and clothes of praise instead of a spirit of weakness. They will be called Oaks of Righteousness, the Plantings of the LORD, so that he might display his glory.

PRAYER: Help all of us to reach the grieving, the tormented, the weakened.  We have Good News and YOU have the power to restore, heal, and encourage.

Isaiah 61:4-6 (GW) 4  They will rebuild the ancient ruins. They will restore the places destroyed long ago. They will renew the ruined cities, the places destroyed generations ago. 5  Foreigners will come forward and become shepherds for your flocks, and children of foreigners will work your fields and vineyards. 6  You will be called the priests of the LORD. You will be called the servants of our God. You will consume the wealth of the nations. You will boast in their splendor.

PRAYER: I look forward to the rebuilding of marriages, families, lives, and our church.  May everyone be open and excited about the new shepherds coming born out of the ministry of YOUR Word.

Isaiah 61:10 (GW) 10  I will find joy in the LORD. I will delight in my God. He has dressed me in the clothes of salvation. He has wrapped me in the robe of righteousness like a bridegroom with a priest's turban, like a bride with her jewels.

PRAYER: It is more than I deserve, Thank YOU!!!

THOT: The real church has its ups and downs, so words of encouragement and challenge to shine are great.  Amazing things can happen with a few humble hearts that want to reflect God’s glory and justice.

Thursday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

THURSDAY 8/10/2017 (09-24) #2054

Read: Luke 24:36-44, Heb 13:1-8, Prov 30, Isa 62-64

Luke 24:41 (GW) 41  The disciples were overcome with joy and amazement because this seemed too good to be true. Then Jesus asked them, “Do you have anything to eat?”

NOTE: In the Kingdom of God, if it seems too good to be true – It’s probably Jesus.

PRAYER: Lord, I’ve got to stop using the word “impossible” around YOU.

Luke 24:44 (GW) 44  Then he said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you. I told you that everything written about me in Moses' Teachings, the Prophets, and the Psalms had to come true.”

PRAYER: YOU said it clearly, but like the disciples – sometimes I just don’t get it.  Help me to understand.

Hebrews 13:1-2 (GW) 1  Continue to love each other. 2  Don't forget to show hospitality to believers you don't know. By doing this some believers have shown hospitality to angels without being aware of it.

PRAYER: May our church grow in hospitality.

Hebrews 13:4 (GW) 4  Marriage is honorable in every way, so husbands and wives should be faithful to each other. God will judge those who commit sexual sins, especially those who commit adultery.

PRAYER: I lift up all the marriages in our church.  May they be holy unions that honor YOU.

Hebrews 13:5 (GW) 5  Don't love money. Be happy with what you have because God has said, “I will never abandon you or leave you.”

PRAYER: Forgive my focus on finances.  I appreciate all YOUR blessings but mostly YOUR abiding presence.

Hebrews 13:8 (GW) 8  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

QUOTE:

Proverbs 30:5-6 (GW) 5  “Every word of God has proven to be true. He is a shield to those who come to him for protection. 6  Do not add to his words, or he will reprimand you, and you will be found to be a liar.

PRAYER: And thank YOU for YOUR Word.

Isaiah 62:2 (GW) 2  The nations will see your righteousness. All kings will see your glory. You will be given a new name that the LORD will announce.

PRAYER: May we all truly shine for YOU.

Isaiah 62:10-12 (GW) 10  Go through! Go through the gates! Prepare a way for the people! Build up! Build up the highway! Clear away the stones! Raise a flag for the people! 11  The LORD has announced to the ends of the earth: “Tell my people Zion, ‘Your Savior is coming. His reward is with him, and the people he has won arrive ahead of him.'” 12  They will be called Holy People, Those Reclaimed by the LORD, and you will be called Sought After, a City Not Deserted.

PRAYER: May the church be responsible for paving the way for more and more people to experience YOUR healing and Lordship.

Isaiah 63:7 (GW) 7  I will acknowledge the LORD'S acts of mercy, and {sing} the praises of the LORD, because of everything that the LORD has done for us. He has done many good things for the nation of Israel because of his compassion and his unlimited mercy.

PRAYER: I personally appreciate YOUR role in my life.

Isaiah 63:9 (GW) 9  In all their troubles he was troubled, and he was the Messenger who saved them. In his love and compassion he reclaimed them. He always held them and carried them in the past.

Isaiah 64:4 (GW) 4  No one has ever heard, no one has paid attention, and no one has seen any god except you. You help those who wait for you.

PRAYER: How amazing that the creator of the heavens and earth, is troubled when little teeny me is troubled.  YOUR compassion (and patience) is astounding.  There is none like YOU!

Isaiah 64:8 (GW) 8  But now, LORD, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are our potter. We are the work of your hands.

PRAYER: Mold me and shape me to be what YOU will me to be.

THOT: with such love, compassion, and patience that God shows us – how can we not be conduits of that to other undeserving people?!!!

Luke 24:45 (GW) 45  Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

PRAYER: Open my mind as well.  I want to understand.

Luke 24:47 (GW) 47  Scripture also says that by the authority of Jesus people would be told to turn to God and change the way they think and act so that their sins will be forgiven. This would be told to people from all nations, beginning in the city of Jerusalem.

PRAYER: May the church help lead more and more people to YOU and the wonderful life change that YOU create (not to mention the grace part).

Luke 24:49 (GW) 49  “I'm sending you what my Father promised. Wait here in the city until you receive power from heaven.”

NOTE: this power was for witnessing purposes.

PRAYER: Lord, empower me to be a powerful witness for YOU.

Hebrews 13:12 (GW) 12  …. He suffered to make the people holy with his own blood.

PRAYER: I’m trying to cooperate with YOUR plan

Hebrews 13:15 (GW) 15  Through Jesus we should always bring God a sacrifice of praise, that is, words that acknowledge him.

PRAYER: Praise should be flowing from me today. I’ll work on that.

Hebrews 13:16 (GW) 16  Don't forget to do good things for others and to share what you have with them. These are the kinds of sacrifices that please God.

PRAYER: OK, Dad, I’ll try to get along with YOUR other kids.

Hebrews 13:17 (GW) 17  Obey your leaders, and accept their authority. They take care of you because they are responsible for you. Obey them so that they may do this work joyfully and not complain about you. (Causing them to complain would not be to your advantage.)

PRAYER: we lift up all our church leaders.  As imperfect as they might be they are our authorities.  I will bring them joy.

Hebrews 13:20-21 (GW) 20  The God of peace brought the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, back to life through the blood of an eternal promise. 21  May this God of peace prepare you to do every good thing he wants. May he work in us through Jesus Christ to do what is pleasing to him. Glory belongs to Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

QUOTE:

Proverbs 31:8-9 (GW) 8  “Speak out for the one who cannot speak, for the rights of those who are doomed. 9  Speak out, judge fairly, and defend the rights of oppressed and needy people.”

PRAYER: Guide our church to whomever suffers from need or injustice.

Proverbs 31:10-12,17,20,25-27,30 (GW) 10  “Who can find a wife with a strong character? She is worth far more than jewels. 11  Her husband trusts her with {all} his heart, and he does not lack anything good. 12  She helps him and never harms him all the days of her life. … 17  She puts on strength like a belt and goes to work with energy. 20  She opens her hands to oppressed people and stretches them out to needy people. 25  She dresses with strength and nobility, and she smiles at the future. 26  “She speaks with wisdom, and on her tongue there is tender instruction. 27  She keeps a close eye on the conduct of her family, and she does not eat the bread of idleness. 30  “Charm is deceptive, and beauty evaporates, {but} a woman who has the fear of the LORD should be praised.

PRAYER: May we all be trustworthy, supportive, God-fearing, strong, wise, joyfully optimistic, instructive, hardworking, and compassionate to the less fortunate.

Isaiah 65:2 (GW) 2  I stretched out my hands all day long to stubborn people. They chose to go the wrong direction. They followed their own plans.

Isaiah 66:4 (GW) 4  So I will choose harsh treatment for them and bring on them what they fear. I called, but no one answered. I spoke, but they didn't listen. They did what I consider evil. They chose what I don't like.

PRAYER: Do forgive me for those times of rebellion.  I want to serve YOU with all my heart.

Isaiah 65:24 (GW) 24  Before they call, I will answer. While they're still speaking, I will hear.

PRAYER: YOU are for sure on it!!!

Isaiah 66:2 (GW) 2  I have made all these things. “That is why all these things have come into being,” declares the LORD. I will pay attention to those who are humble and sorry {for their sins} and who tremble at my word.

PRAYER: I am sorry, cleanse me then empower me to do YOUR will through YOUR Living Word.

THOT: The real Jesus follower though forgiven still struggles with sin.  God in His compassion will forgive and even empower the humble and those who look to help others less fortunate.
