If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 2/12/2018

Read: Mat 23:1-12, Rom 5:1-11, Psa 53, Num 12-14

Matthew 23:3 (TEV) 3  So you must obey and follow everything they tell you to do; do not, however, imitate their actions, because they don't practice what they preach.

PRAYER: I’m not just readying the Word I’ll be living it.

Matthew 23:11-12 (TEV) 11  The greatest one among you must be your servant. 12  Whoever makes himself great will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be made great.

PRAYER: I will be a servant today.

Romans 5:2 (TEV) 2  He has brought us by faith into this experience of God's grace, in which we now live. And so we boast of the hope we have of sharing God's glory!

PRAYER: An delightful everyday experience of YOUR grace, thank YOU very much.

Romans 5:3-5 (TEV) 3  We also boast of our troubles, because we know that trouble produces endurance, 4  endurance brings God's approval, and his approval creates hope. 5  This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us.

PRAYER: From struggles  to stamina, and from approval to aspiration – all because of YOUR Holy presence in our lives.   I will not complain, I will grow.

Romans 5:8-10 (TEV) 8  But God has shown us how much he loves us—it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us! 9  By his blood we are now put right with God; how much more, then, will we be saved by him from God's anger! 10  We were God's enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Now that we are God's friends, how much more will we be saved by Christ's life!

PRAYER: What a gift, what a privilege. Thank YOU!

Psalm 53:1 (TEV) 1   Fools say to themselves, "There is no God." …..

PRAYER: Give me love for those fools.

Psalm 53:2 (TEV) 2  God looks down from heaven at people to see if there are any who are wise, any who worship him.

PRAYER: And “the Wise men still seek YOU”, right?!!

Numbers 12:3 (TEV) 3  (Moses was a humble man, more humble than anyone else on earth.)

QUOTE:

Numbers 12:6 (TEV) 6  and the LORD said, "Now hear what I have to say! When there are prophets among you, I reveal myself to them in visions and speak to them in dreams.

PRAYER: Send us Prophets who clearly hear YOUR voice

Numbers 13:27-28 (TEV) 27  They told Moses, "We explored the land and found it to be rich and fertile; and here is some of its fruit. 28  But the people who live there are powerful, and their cities are very large and well fortified. Even worse, we saw the descendants of the giants there. …33  and we even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. We felt as small as grasshoppers, and that is how we must have looked to them."

PRAYER: Forgive me my many feeble excuses.

Numbers 13:30 (TEV) 30  Caleb silenced the people who were complaining against Moses, and said, "We should attack now and take the land; we are strong enough to conquer it."

Numbers 14:9 (TEV) 9  Do not rebel against the LORD and don't be afraid of the people who live there. We will conquer them easily. The LORD is with us and has defeated the gods who protected them; so don't be afraid."

PRAYER: I want to be like Caleb and Joshua.

Numbers 14:1-3 (TEV) 1  All night long the people cried out in distress. 2  They complained against Moses and Aaron, and said, "It would have been better to die in Egypt or even here in the wilderness! 3  Why is the LORD taking us into that land? We will be killed in battle, and our wives and children will be captured. Wouldn't it be better to go back to Egypt?"

PRAYER: Wow, amazing.  Yet I know that we’ve been just as ignorant and faithless.  Forgive us our complaining, may we better than that.

Numbers 14:17-18 (TEV) 17  So now, LORD, I pray, show us your power and do what you promised when you said, 18  'I, the LORD, am not easily angered, and I show great love and faithfulness and forgive sin and rebellion. ….'

PRAYER: Thank YOU for YOUR Word.

Numbers 14:40-43 (TEV) 40  Early the next morning they started out to invade the hill country, saying, "Now we are ready to go to the place which the LORD told us about. We admit that we have sinned." 41  But Moses said, "Then why are you disobeying the LORD now? You will not succeed! 42  Don't go. The LORD is not with you, and your enemies will defeat you. 43  When you face the Amalekites and the Canaanites, you will die in battle; the LORD will not be with you, because you have refused to follow him."

NOTE: Sometimes the train has passed and you just have to take your medicine.

PRAYER: Lord, if I miss the boat, then guide me to whatever is next.

THOT: The real believer adheres to all God’s Word, not just the parts that are pleasant or convenient.

Tuesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

TUESDAY 2/13/2018

Read: Mat 23:13-24, Rom 5:12-21, Psa 54, Num 15-17

Matthew 23:23 (TEV) 23  "How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You give to God one tenth even of the seasoning herbs, such as mint, dill, and cumin, but you neglect to obey the really important teachings of the Law, such as justice and mercy and honesty. These you should practice, without neglecting the others.

PRAYER: And then there are those who don’t tithe, nor do they do justice or show mercy – but they sit tall in the congregation.  Help us to reach them with YOUR truth.

Romans 5:16 (TEV) 16  And there is a difference between God's gift and the sin of one man. After the one sin, came the judgment of "Guilty"; but after so many sins, comes the undeserved gift of "Not guilty!"

PRAYER: That is so humbling but so greatly appreciated. Thank YOU!

Romans 5:21 (TEV) 21  So then, just as sin ruled by means of death, so also God's grace rules by means of righteousness, leading us to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

PRAYER: May my life be a reflection of YOUR grace.  May I shine for YOU.

Psalm 54:4 (TEV) 4  But God is my helper. The Lord is my defender.

PRAYER: I need both YOUR assistance and YOUR protection.

Psalm 54:6-7 (TEV) 6  I will gladly offer you a sacrifice, O LORD; I will give you thanks because you are good. 7  You have rescued me from all my troubles, and I have seen my enemies defeated.

PRAYER: I really am grateful.

Numbers 15:15 (TEV) 15  For all time to come, the same rules are binding on you and on the foreigners who live among you. You and they are alike in the LORD'S sight;

PRAYER: I like how there was a sense of inclusion and oneness even way back when.

Numbers 16:11 (TEV) 11  When you complain against Aaron, it is really against the LORD that you and your followers are rebelling."

PRAYER: Forgive us the times we’ve complained against our leaders.

Numbers 16:41,49 (TEV) 41  The next day the whole community complained against Moses and Aaron and said, "You have killed some of the LORD'S people." … 49  The number of people who died was 14,700, not counting those who died in Korah's rebellion.

PRAYER: We can be so amazingly ignorant and rebellious.  Thank YOU for YOUR patience and grace.

Numbers 17:10 (TEV) 10  The LORD said to Moses, "Put Aaron's stick back in front of the Covenant Box. It is to be kept as a warning to the rebel Israelites that they will die unless their complaining stops."

THOT: Even real believers have to content with sin, hypocrisy, and unthankfulness.  But we are to freely give what we have freely received.

Wednesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

WEDNESDAY 2/14/2018

Read: Mat 23:25-39, Rom 6:1-14, Psa 55, Num 18-20

Matthew 23:25-26,28 (TEV) 25  "How terrible for you, teachers of the Law and Pharisees! You hypocrites! You clean the outside of your cup and plate, while the inside is full of what you have gotten by violence and selfishness. 26  Blind Pharisee! Clean what is inside the cup first, and then the outside will be clean too!... 28  In the same way, on the outside you appear good to everybody, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and sins.

PRAYER: Help me clean up stuff in my own life.

Matthew 23:37 (TEV) 37  "Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You kill the prophets and stone the messengers God has sent you! How many times I wanted to put my arms around all your people, just as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you would not let me!

PRAYER: How we must break YOUR heart over and over again.  Forgive us Lord!

Romans 6:2,6 (TEV) 2  Certainly not! We have died to sin—how then can we go on living in it? … 6  And we know that our old being has been put to death with Christ on his cross, in order that the power of the sinful self might be destroyed, so that we should no longer be the slaves of sin.

PRAYER: I’m still going to need YOUR help cleaning up a few things.

Romans 6:4,8 (TEV) 4  By our baptism, then, we were buried with him and shared his death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from death by the glorious power of the Father, so also we might live a new life. … 8  Since we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.

PRAYER: I intend to reflect that new life today.

Romans 6:13 (TEV) 13  Nor must you surrender any part of yourselves to sin to be used for wicked purposes. Instead, give yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life, and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes.

PRAYER: I surrender wholly and completely to you.  May I become an example of YOUR holy and righteous work.

Psalm 55:12-15,23 (TEV) 12  If it were an enemy making fun of me, I could endure it; if it were an opponent boasting over me, I could hide myself from him. 13  But it is you, my companion, my colleague and close friend. 14  We had intimate talks with each other and worshiped together in the Temple. 15  … Evil is in their homes and in their hearts. … 23  But you, O God, will bring those murderers and liars to their graves before half their life is over. As for me, I will trust in you.

NOTE: Little hurts worse than a friend’s betrayal.  Yet as a friend to God, the Lord remains loyal and trustworthy to us though we disappoint Him.  Amazing Grace!

PRAYER: Lord, forgive me for betraying YOU.  May I be as patient with those who’ve hurt me as YOU regularly are with me.

Numbers 18:7 (TEV) 7  …. These things are your responsibility, because I have given you the gift of the priesthood. Any unqualified person who comes near the sacred objects shall be put to death."

PRAYER: Raise up qualified leaders and shepherds for YOUR flock, O Lord.

Numbers 19:20 (TEV) 20  Those who have become ritually unclean and do not purify themselves remain unclean, because the water for purification has not been thrown over them. They defile the LORD'S Tent and will no longer be considered God's people.

PRAYER: Forgive me the times I’ve just counted on grace without trying to change for the better.

Numbers 20:3 (TEV) 3  and complained: "It would have been better if we had died in front of the LORD'S Tent along with the other Israelites.

PRAYER: Forgive us our very selective memories.

THOT: We may be redeemed but we have to constantly deal with the sin stuff.  So real Christians will frequently and regularly need death and renewal.

Thursday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

THURSDAY 2/15/2018

Read: Mat 24:1-14, Rom 6:15-23, Psa 56, Num 21-22

Matthew 24:8-13 (TEV) 8  All these things are like the first pains of childbirth. 9  "Then you will be arrested and handed over to be punished and be put to death. Everyone will hate you because of me. 10  Many will give up their faith at that time; they will betray one another and hate one another. 11  Then many false prophets will appear and fool many people. 12  Such will be the spread of evil that many people's love will grow cold. 13  But whoever holds out to the end will be saved.

PRAYER: Earthquakes, wars, and famine pale compared to spiritual famine, division and betrayal.  I pray that my friends and family will keep YOU in the center of their lives. I will not quit.

Matthew 24:14 (TEV) 14  And this Good News about the Kingdom will be preached through all the world for a witness to all people; and then the end will come.

PRAYER: I want to be part of this movement.

Romans 6:17,19,22 (TEV) 17  But thanks be to God! For though at one time you were slaves to sin, you have obeyed with all your heart the truths found in the teaching you received…. 19   …At one time you surrendered yourselves entirely as slaves to impurity and wickedness for wicked purposes. In the same way you must now surrender yourselves entirely as slaves of righteousness for holy purposes. … 22  But now you have been set free from sin and are the slaves of God. Your gain is a life fully dedicated to him, and the result is eternal life.

PRAYER: Help me to unshackle any remaining chains of sin that hold me back from serving YOU fully.

Romans 6:23 (TEV) 23  For sin pays its wage—death; but God's free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus our Lord.

NOTE: Wage=something earned.

PRAYER: Lord, thank YOU that I won’t be getting what I deserve. I receive YOUR undeserved gift – GRATEFULLY.

Psalm 56:3-4 (TEV) 3  When I am afraid, O LORD Almighty, I put my trust in you. 4  I trust in God and am not afraid; I praise him for what he has promised. What can a mere human being do to me?

PRAYER: Thank YOU for being present in my darker moments.

Psalm 56:9 (TEV) 9  The day I call to you, my enemies will be turned back. I know this: God is on my side

PRAYER: That’s crazy, YOU are on my side! Wow!

Numbers 21:4-5,8 (TEV) 4  …. But on the way the people lost their patience 5  and spoke against God and Moses. They complained, "Why did you bring us out of Egypt to die in this desert, where there is no food or water? We can't stand any more of this miserable food!" … 8  Then the LORD told Moses to make a metal snake and put it on a pole, so that anyone who was bitten could look at it and be healed.

PRAYER: YOU hate murmuring and backbiting, yet YOU put YOURself on a pole that whoever might look upon YOU might be healed.  Thank YOU!!!

Numbers 22:28 (TEV) 28  Then the LORD gave the donkey the power of speech, and it said to Balaam, "What have I done to you? Why have you beaten me these three times?"

PRAYER: I will try to be open (and supportive) to whatever donkeys YOU choose to do YOUR will.

THOT: True believers are redeemed and renewed but have to deal with sins lingering effects (yet not without God’s help).

Friday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

FRIDAY 2/16/2018

Read: Mat 24:15-35, Rom 7:1-12, Psa 57, Num 23-25

Matthew 24:21-22,33 (TEV) 21  For the trouble at that time will be far more terrible than any there has ever been, from the beginning of the world to this very day. Nor will there ever be anything like it again. 22  But God has already reduced the number of days; had he not done so, nobody would survive. For the sake of his chosen people, however, God will reduce the days. … 33  In the same way, when you see all these things, you will know that the time is near, ready to begin.

PRAYER: Help me to be prepared for these terrible days, and help me to prepare others.

Matthew 24:35 (TEV) 35  Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

QUOTE:

Romans 7:6 (TEV) 6  Now, however, we are free from the Law, because we died to that which once held us prisoners. No longer do we serve in the old way of a written law, but in the new way of the Spirit.

PRAYER: Yet I will remain loyal to YOUR Word while enjoying the freedom in YOUR Holy Spirit.

Psalm 57:3,10 (TEV) 3  He will answer from heaven and save me; he will defeat my oppressors. God will show me his constant love and faithfulness. 10  Your constant love reaches the heavens; your faithfulness touches the skies.

PRAYER: Constant even on my bad days! YOU are amazing.

Psalm 57:7-8 (TEV) 7  I have complete confidence, O God; I will sing and praise you! 8  Wake up, my soul! Wake up, my harp and lyre! I will wake up the sun.

PRAYER: No more slumber, awaken YOUR house with song and praise this weekend.

Numbers 23:11-12 (TEV) 11  Then Balak said to Balaam, "What have you done to me? I brought you here to curse my enemies, but all you have done is bless them." 12  He answered, "I can say only what the LORD tells me to say."

PRAYER: And I can only do what YOU will me to do.  Forgive me the times I’ve gone off course.

Numbers 25:11 (TEV) 11  "Because of what Phinehas has done, I am no longer angry with the people of Israel. He refused to tolerate the worship of any god but me, and that is why I did not destroy them in my anger.

PRAYER: May I remain single minded in my devotion to YOU.

THOT: Temptations and trials are an everyday battle for the true believer. Yet the “last days” will truly be difficult.  It is wise to prepare now.
