MONDAY 2/19/2018

Read: Mat 24:36-51, Rom 7:13-25, Psa 58, Num 26-27

Matthew 24:37-39,44 (TEV) 37  The coming of the Son of Man will be like what happened in the time of Noah. 38  In the days before the flood people ate and drank, men and women married, up to the very day Noah went into the boat; 39  yet they did not realize what was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes. … 44  So then, you also must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him.

PRAYER: YOU deserve my full attention always.

Matthew 24:45 (TEV) 45  "Who, then, is a faithful and wise servant? It is the one that his master has placed in charge of the other servants to give them their food at the proper time.

PRAYER: May all shepherds feed their flocks with the whole of YOUR Word.

Romans 7:15,17-20 (TEV) 15  I do not understand what I do; for I don't do what I would like to do, but instead I do what I hate…. 17  So I am not really the one who does this thing; rather it is the sin that lives in me. 18  I know that good does not live in me—that is, in my human nature. For even though the desire to do good is in me, I am not able to do it. 19  I don't do the good I want to do; instead, I do the evil that I do not want to do. 20  If I do what I don't want to do, this means that I am no longer the one who does it; instead, it is the sin that lives in me.

PRAYER: Forgive me, Lord. I can’t wait to be with YOU in a place where this isn’t going to be the daily battle.

Romans 7:22-24a (TEV) 22  My inner being delights in the law of God. 23  But I see a different law at work in my body—a law that fights against the law which my mind approves of. It makes me a prisoner to the law of sin which is at work in my body. 24  What an unhappy man I am!

PRAYER: This is a regular struggle. Thank YOU for YOUR love and patience.

Romans 7:24b-25 (TEV) 24  …. Who will rescue me from this body that is taking me to death? 25  Thanks be to God, who does this through our Lord Jesus Christ! This, then, is my condition: on my own I can serve God's law only with my mind, while my human nature serves the law of sin.

PRAYER: I am truly grateful for YOUR mercy and grace.

Psalm 58:11 (TEV) 11  People will say, "The righteous are indeed rewarded; there is indeed a God who judges the world."

PRAYER: I hope they can say that about me.

Numbers 26:10,61 (TEV) 10  The ground opened and swallowed them, and they died with Korah and his followers when fire destroyed 250 men; they became a warning to the people. … 61  Nadab and Abihu died when they offered unholy fire to the LORD.

PRAYER: Warning are clearly noted!

Numbers 27:3 (TEV) 3  "Our father … died because of his own sin.

PRAYER: And I will be responsible for my stuff.

Numbers 27:16-17 (TEV) 16  "LORD God, source of all life, appoint, I pray, a man who can lead the people 17  and can command them in battle, so that your community will not be like sheep without a shepherd."

PRAYER: Raise up more shepherds who will lead people to fight for the faith.

THOT: Being a Christ follower doesn’t exempt us from our human weakness to sin.  We need good shepherds, and a desire to always be better.

Romans 8:5-6 (TEV) 5  Those who live as their human nature tells them to, have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants. 6  To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace.

PRAYER: I’ll try to keep giving YOU the reigns to my life.

Romans 8:11 (TEV) 11  If the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from death, lives in you, then he who raised Christ from death will also give life to your mortal bodies by the presence of his Spirit in you.

PRAYER: So I really don’t have any excuses, right?!

Romans 8:15 (TEV) 15  For the Spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit makes you God's children, and by the Spirit's power we cry out to God, "Father! my Father!"

Romans 8:17 (TEV) 17  Since we are his children, we will possess the blessings he keeps for his people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ's suffering, we will also share his glory.

Matthew 25:15,20,22-23 (TEV) 15  He gave to each one according to his ability: to one he gave five thousand gold coins, to another he gave two thousand, and to another he gave one thousand. Then he left on his trip. … 20  The servant who had received five thousand coins came in and handed over the other five thousand. 'You gave me five thousand coins, sir,' he said. 'Look! Here are another five thousand that I have earned. '… 22  Then the servant who had been given two thousand coins came in and said, 'You gave me two thousand coins, sir. Look! Here are another two thousand that I have earned.' 23  'Well done, you good and faithful servant!' said his master. 'You have been faithful in managing small amounts, so I will put you in charge of large amounts. Come on in and share my happiness!'

PRAYER: I will work with what ever abilities YOU’ve given to me, be they numerous or small.

PRAYER: I will be patient, I will not quit.

Romans 8:25-26 (TEV) 25  But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. 26  In the same way the Spirit also comes to help us, weak as we are. For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express.

PRAYER: I have no excuse, I have YOU!

Romans 8:28-29 (TEV) 28  We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose. 29  Those whom God had already chosen he also set apart to become like his Son, so that the Son would be the first among many believers.

PRAYER: May I grow to become more and more like YOU, Lord.  In good times and bad, may I grow to fulfill the purpose for which YOU created me.

Romans 8:31,35,37-39 (TEV) 31  In view of all this, what can we say? If God is for us, who can be against us? … 35  Who, then, can separate us from the love of Christ? Can trouble do it, or hardship or persecution or hunger or poverty or danger or death? … 37  No, in all these things we have complete victory through him who loved us! 38  For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, 39  neither the world above nor the world below—there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.

PRAYER: How many times have I stopped short of YOUR blessing, our “promised land”.

Numbers 32:23 (TEV) 23  But if you do not keep your promise, I warn you that you will be sinning against the LORD. Make no mistake about it; you will be punished for your sin.

PRAYER: I’ll try to be a person of my Word.

THOT: Gifted with God given abilities, empowered by God’s love, true believers have quite an advantage.

Romans 9:15-16 (TEV) 15  For he said to Moses, "I will have mercy on anyone I wish; I will take pity on anyone I wish." 16  So then, everything depends, not on what we humans want or do, but only on God's mercy.

Romans 9:20-21 (TEV) 20  But who are you, my friend, to talk back to God? A clay pot does not ask the man who made it, "Why did you make me like this?" 21  After all, the man who makes the pots has the right to use the clay as he wishes, and to make two pots from the same lump of clay, one for special occasions and the other for ordinary use.
