If you use this weekly guide  - you'll cover all of the Bible in just 300 days.   This is sort of a "Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John uses.  But it's more than just learning stuff.  This helps you to communicate with God.  You'll hear Him, and He will hear you..

MONDAY 2/26/2018

Read: Mat 26:17-35, Rom10, Psa 63, Deut 4-5

Matthew 26:21-22 (TEV) 21  During the meal Jesus said, "I tell you, one of you will betray me." 22  The disciples were very upset and began to ask him, one after the other, "Surely, Lord, you don't mean me?"

PRAYER: We are all keenly aware of our sin stained nature.  Thank YOU for YOUR grace and mercy.

Matthew 26:26-28 (TEV) 26  While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples. "Take and eat it," he said; "this is my body." 27  Then he took a cup, gave thanks to God, and gave it to them. "Drink it, all of you," he said; 28  "this is my blood, which seals God's covenant, my blood poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

PRAYER: I am grateful for YOUR sacrifice and the fact that YOU want to be with me… in me!!! Wow!!

Matthew 26:31,35 (TEV) 31  Then Jesus said to them, "This very night all of you will run away and leave me, for the scripture says, 'God will kill the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' … 35  Peter answered, "I will never say that, even if I have to die with you!" And all the other disciples said the same thing.

PRAYER: We mean well, but YOU really are faithful to YOUR Word.

Romans 10:8-9,13 (TEV) 8  What it says is this: "God's message is near you, on your lips and in your heart"—that is, the message of faith that we preach. 9  If you confess that Jesus is Lord and believe that God raised him from death, you will be saved. … 13  As the scripture says, "Everyone who calls out to the Lord for help will be saved."

PRAYER: Help me to reach more people with this simple message of hope.

Romans 10:14-15 (TEV) 14  But how can they call to him for help if they have not believed? And how can they believe if they have not heard the message? And how can they hear if the message is not proclaimed? 15  And how can the message be proclaimed if the messengers are not sent out? As the scripture says, "How wonderful is the coming of messengers who bring good news!"

PRAYER: Again, I would like to be one of those messengers.  Show me who I am to share this good news with.

Psalm 63:3 (TEV) 3  Your constant love is better than life itself, and so I will praise you.

PRAYER: YOU are the center of my universe

Psalm 63:7 (TEV) 7  because you have always been my help. In the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.

PRAYER: I will praise YOU even in the worst of times, because I know that YOU are right there.

Deuteronomy 4:6 (TEV) 6  Obey them faithfully, and this will show the people of other nations how wise you are. When they hear of all these laws, they will say, 'What wisdom and understanding this great nation has!'

PRAYER: May YOUR church be Word wise and fully obedient.

Deuteronomy 4:30-31 (TEV) 30  When you are in trouble and all those things happen to you, then you will finally turn to the LORD and obey him. 31  He is a merciful God. He will not abandon you or destroy you, and he will not forget the covenant that he himself made with your ancestors.

PRAYER: I hope I don’t stray, but if I do thank YOU for YOUR mercy and grace.

Deuteronomy 5:1 (TEV) 1  Moses called together all the people of Israel and said to them, "People of Israel, listen to all the laws that I am giving you today. Learn them and be sure that you obey them.

PRAYER: I will listen, learn, and obey.

Deuteronomy 5:10,33 (TEV) 10  But I show my love to thousands of generations of those who love me and obey my laws. … 33  Obey them all, so that everything will go well with you and so that you will continue to live in the land that you are going to occupy.

PRAYER: I do love YOU, may my actions prove that.

THOT: God’s Word must be heard, lived, and shared.

Tuesday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

TUESDAY 2/27/2018

Read: Mat 26:36-56, Rom 11:1-24, Psa 64, Deut 6-8

Matthew 26:39 (TEV) 39  He went a little farther on, threw himself face downward on the ground, and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, take this cup of suffering from me! Yet not what I want, but what you want."

PRAYER: I’ll make my requests, but I also submit to YOUR better plan (whatever that might be).

Matthew 26:40-41,43,45,56 (TEV) 40  Then he returned to the three disciples and found them asleep; and he said to Peter, "How is it that you three were not able to keep watch with me for even one hour? 41  Keep watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."… 43  He returned once more and found the disciples asleep; they could not keep their eyes open. … 45  Then he returned to the disciples and said, "Are you still sleeping and resting?.... … 56  …." Then all the disciples left him and ran away.

PRAYER: How many of us remain unprepared because we just didn’t pray.  YOU deserve our full attention.

Matthew 26:52 (TEV) 52  "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him. "All who take the sword will die by the sword.

PRAYER: Help me when I am tempted to retaliate with anger instead of love.

Romans 11:5-7 (TEV) 5  It is the same way now: there is a small number left of those whom God has chosen because of his grace. 6  His choice is based on his grace, not on what they have done. For if God's choice were based on what people do, then his grace would not be real grace. 7  What then? The people of Israel did not find what they were looking for. It was only the small group that God chose who found it; the rest grew deaf to God's call.

PRAYER: I plan on believing in and living in YOUR grace. May I be gracious with others as YOU are with me.

Romans 11:20-23 (TEV) 20  That is true. They were broken off because they did not believe, while you remain in place because you do believe. But do not be proud of it; instead, be afraid. 21  God did not spare the Jews, who are like natural branches; do you think he will spare you? 22  Here we see how kind and how severe God is. He is severe toward those who have fallen, but kind to you—if you continue in his kindness. But if you do not, you too will be broken off. 23  And if the Jews abandon their unbelief, they will be put back in the place where they were; for God is able to do that.

PRAYER: I will humbly continue to receive and re-distribute YOUR grace.

Psalm 64:10 (TEV) 10  All righteous people will rejoice because of what the LORD has done. They will find safety in him; all good people will praise him.

PRAYER: I intend on being one of the “good guys” today.

Deuteronomy 6:2-3 (TEV) 2  As long as you live, you and your descendants are to honor the LORD your God and obey all his laws that I am giving you, so that you may live in that land a long time. 3  Listen to them, people of Israel, and obey them! Then all will go well with you, and you will become a mighty nation and live in that rich and fertile land, just as the LORD, the God of our ancestors, has promised.

PRAYER: Speak Lord, YOUR servant is listening.

Deuteronomy 6:4-5 (TEV) 4  "Israel, remember this! The LORD—and the LORD alone—is our God. 5  Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

PRAYER: YOUR deserve my full attention and admiration.

Deuteronomy 6:7-9 (TEV) 7  Teach them to your children. Repeat them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. 8  Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder. 9  Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

PRAYER: Spiritual graffiti is cool!  I could stand to memorize more of YOUR Word on an everyday basis.

Deuteronomy 6:11-12 (TEV) 11  The houses will be full of good things which you did not put in them, and there will be wells that you did not dig, and vineyards and olive orchards that you did not plant. When the LORD brings you into this land and you have all you want to eat, 12  make certain that you do not forget the LORD who rescued you from Egypt, where you were slaves.

PRAYER: YOU know us well!  I hope to remain humble, grateful, and faithful to YOU.

Deuteronomy 7:4 (TEV) 4  because then they would lead your children away from the LORD to worship other gods. If that happens, the LORD will be angry with you and destroy you at once.

PRAYER: I understand why we are not supposed to let the world sneak into our hearts.

Deuteronomy 7:7-8 (TEV) 7  "The LORD did not love you and choose you because you outnumbered other peoples; you were the smallest nation on earth. 8  But the LORD loved you and wanted to keep the promise that he made to your ancestors. That is why he saved you by his great might and set you free from slavery to the king of Egypt.

PRAYER: Small as we are, I know it’s about YOU and YOUR love.  Bless our humble congregation may we be a reflection of YOUR power and grace.

Deuteronomy 7:9-10 (TEV) 9  Remember that the LORD your God is the only God and that he is faithful. He will keep his covenant and show his constant love to a thousand generations of those who love him and obey his commands, 10  but he will not hesitate to punish those who hate him.

PRAYER: Got it!

Deuteronomy 8:1 (TEV) 1  "Obey faithfully all the laws that I have given you today, so that you may live, increase in number, and occupy the land that the LORD promised to your ancestors.

PRAYER: That’s my prayer for the church, to truly live, increase in number, and make a positive difference in our community.

Deuteronomy 8:3 (TEV) 3  He made you go hungry, and then he gave you manna to eat, food that you and your ancestors had never eaten before. He did this to teach you that you must not depend on bread alone to sustain you, but on everything that the LORD says.

PRAYER: YOUR Word is my bread. I really do appreciate the daily strength I gain from it.

Deuteronomy 8:5 (TEV) 5  Remember that the LORD your God corrects and punishes you just as parents discipline their children.

PRAYER: I’m not always excited about that, but I really do appreciate that YOU do what YOU do out of love for me.  Wow!

Deuteronomy 8:12-14 (TEV) 12  When you have all you want to eat and have built good houses to live in 13  and when your cattle and sheep, your silver and gold, and all your other possessions have increased, 14  be sure that you do not become proud and forget the LORD your God who rescued you from Egypt, where you were slaves.

PRAYER: I know that can happen. It has happened, forgive me!

Deuteronomy 8:17-18 (TEV) 17  So then, you must never think that you have made yourselves wealthy by your own power and strength. 18  Remember that it is the LORD your God who gives you the power to become rich. He does this because he is still faithful today to the covenant that he made with your ancestors.

PRAYER: YOU have blessed the work of my hands for sure! Thank YOU!

THOT: Real Jesus followers are not moved by numbers nor power but by God’s grace and continual presence in their lives.

Read: Mat 26:57-75, Rom 11:25-36, Psa 65, Deut 9-12

Matthew 26:70,74-75 (TEV) 70  But he denied it in front of them all. "I don't know what you are talking about," he answered, … 74  Then Peter said, "I swear that I am telling the truth! May God punish me if I am not! I do not know that man!" Just then a rooster crowed, 75  and Peter remembered what Jesus had told him: "Before the rooster crows, you will say three times that you do not know me." He went out and wept bitterly.

PRAYER: I am so sorry for the many times I’ve disappointed YOU, even denying YOU.  Why do I fear man more than I love YOU!?!!  May I do better.

Romans 11:29 (TEV) 29  For God does not change his mind about whom he chooses and blesses.

PRAYER: I grateful YOU are not fickle like us.

Romans 11:33-34 (TEV) 33  How great are God's riches! How deep are his wisdom and knowledge! Who can explain his decisions? Who can understand his ways? 34  As the scripture says, "Who knows the mind of the Lord? Who is able to give him advice?

QUOTE:

Romans 11:36 (TEV) 36  For all things were created by him, and all things exist through him and for him. To God be the glory forever! Amen.

PRAYER: All I have and am are YOUR’s.  I exist for YOU.

Psalm 65:2-3 (TEV) 2  because you answer prayers. People everywhere will come to you 3  on account of their sins. Our faults defeat us, but you forgive them.

PRAYER: Praise YOUR Holy Name!  Thank YOU!

Psalm 65:4 (TEV) 4  Happy are those whom you choose, whom you bring to live in your sanctuary. We shall be satisfied with the good things of your house, the blessings of your sacred Temple.

NOTE: People conjure up what heaven means to them. But it’s simple really, it’s God house and His house “rocks”

PRAYER: Lord, I look forward to weekend worship in “Your House” but I really look forward to someday being in the “real thing”.

Psalm 65:11 (TEV) 11  What a rich harvest your goodness provides! Wherever you go there is plenty.

PRAYER: I am blessed. YOUR grace is enough.

Deuteronomy 9:3 (TEV) 3  But now you will see for yourselves that the LORD your God will go ahead of you like a raging fire. He will defeat them as you advance, ….

PRAYER: Wow!

Deuteronomy 9:4-5 (TEV) 4  "After the LORD your God has driven them out for you, do not sayyou deserved it. No, the LORD is going to drive these people out for you because they are wicked. 5  It is not because you are good and do what is right that the LORD is letting you take their land. He will drive them out because they are wicked and because he intends to keep the promise that he made to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

PRAYER: duly noted, yet I intend to do and be good!

Deuteronomy 10:12-13,16 (TEV) 12  "Now, people of Israel, listen to what the LORD your God demands of you: Worship the LORD and do all that he commands. Love him, serve him with all your heart, 13  and obey all his laws. I am giving them to you today for your benefit. … 16  So then, from now on be obedient to the LORD and stop being stubborn.

PRAYER: It’s all or nothing. Forgive my lapses into stubbornness

Deuteronomy 11:13-16 (TEV) 13  "So then, obey the commands that I have given you today; love the LORD your God and serve him with all your heart. 14  If you do, he will send rain on your land when it is needed, in the autumn and in the spring, so that there will be grain, wine, and olive oil for you, 15  and grass for your livestock. You will have all the food you want. 16  Do not let yourselves be led away from the LORD to worship and serve other gods.

PRAYER: YOUR Word is my constant guide.  I do love and will serve YOU.

Deuteronomy 11:18-20 (TEV) 18  "Remember these commands and cherish them. Tie them on your arms and wear them on your foreheads as a reminder. 19  Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you are resting and when you are working. 20  Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.

PRAYER: May there be more and more holy “re-tweets” of YOUR Word this day and every day.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (TEV) 26  "Today I am giving you the choice between a blessing and a curse27  a blessing, if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today; 28  but a curse, if you disobey these commands and turn away to worship other gods that you have never worshiped before.

PRAYER: I choose blessing!

Deuteronomy 12:5-6,8,12-14 (TEV) 5  Out of the territory of all your tribes the LORD will choose the one place where the people are to come into his presence and worship him. 6  There you are to offer your sacrifices that are to be burned and your other sacrifices, your tithes and your offerings, the gifts that you promise to the LORD, your freewill offerings, …. … 8  "When that time comes, you must not do as you have been doing. Until now you have all been worshiping as you please, … 12  Be joyful there in his presence, together with your children, your servants, …. 13  You are not to offer your sacrifices wherever you choose; 14  you must offer them only in the one place that the LORD will choose in the territory of one of your tribes. Only there are you to offer your sacrifices that are to be burned and do all the other things that I have commanded you.

PRAYER: Guide each of us to that “one place” we are to worship and sacrifice as a family.

Deuteronomy 12:32 (TEV) 32  "Do everything that I have commanded you; do not add anything to it or take anything from it.

PRAYER: Understood!

THOT: what an honor and privilege to have access to the Lord’s presence. Yet we believers forget that we are made by Him and for Him, we go back to old ways, and we give only half-hearted devotion.  We should be grateful for grace!

Thursday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

THURSDAY 3/1/2018

Read: Mat 27:1-10, Rom 12:1-8, Psa 66, Deut 13-17

Matthew 27:3-4 (TEV) 3  When Judas, the traitor, learned that Jesus had been condemned, he repented and took back the thirty silver coins to the chief priests and the elders. 4  "I have sinned by betraying an innocent man to death!" he said. "What do we care about that?" they answered. "That is your business!"

NOTE: for all of Judas’ faults, he at least repented, gave back the money, and sought to change the verdict.

PRAYER: Lord, forgive me the times I’ve gone against YOUR will only to then try it after it’s too late (like going back into the promised land.

Romans 12:1 (TEV) 1  So then, my friends, because of God's great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.

NOTE: real worship doesn’t require a band and great speakers.

PRAYER: Lord, I am YOUR servant.

Romans 12:2 (TEV) 2  Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.

PRAYER: The world is out, and YOU are in.  Speak, Lord, YOUR servant is listening.

Romans 12:3 (TEV) 3  And because of God's gracious gift to me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you should. Instead, be modest in your thinking, and judge yourself according to the amount of faith that God has given you.

PRAYER: I’ve been humbled before.  I’ll take this moment to do some honest self-evaluating.

Romans 12:5-6 (TEV) 5  In the same way, though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body. 6  So we are to use our different gifts in accordance with the grace that God has given us. …;

PRAYER: May everyone be patient with the differences and encouraging of the unity of YOUR body.

Psalm 66:5,16 (TEV) 5  Come and see what God has done, his wonderful acts among people. 16  Come and listen, all who honor God, and I will tell you what he has done for me.

PRAYER: Guide me to those I should invite to see what YOU’ve done and what YOU are doing.

Psalm 66:10 (TEV) 10  You have put us to the test, God; as silver is purified by fire, so you have tested us.

NOTE: It’s not always Satan’s victory when we’re going through rough patches.

PRAYER: Lord, I really don’t like tests, but I don’t mind the improvements.  I’m ready.

Deuteronomy 13:1-4 (TEV) 1  "Prophets or interpreters of dreams may promise a miracle or a wonder, 2  in order to lead you to worship and serve gods that you have not worshiped before. Even if what they promise comes true, 3  do not pay any attention to them. The LORD your God is using them to test you, to see if you love the LORD with all your heart. 4  Follow the LORD and honor him; obey him and keep his commands; worship him and be faithful to him.

PRAYER: This world keeps testing and tempting me. I hope to remain faithful.

Deuteronomy 14:2 (TEV) 2  You belong to the LORD your God; he has chosen you to be his own people from among all the peoples who live on earth.

PRAYER: I belong.  I am chosen. Wow!

Deuteronomy 14:22-23 (TEV) 22  "Set aside a tithe—a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23  Then go to the one place where the LORD your God has chosen to be worshiped; and there in his presence eat the tithes …. Do this so that you may learn to honor the LORD your God always.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for the ninety percent YOU allow me to keep.  My humble gift is an act of faith and appreciation.

Deuteronomy 15:6 (TEV) 6  The LORD will bless you, as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations, but you will not have to borrow from any; you will have control over many nations, but no nation will have control over you.

PRAYER: Help us all to be such good stewards that this becomes true.

Deuteronomy 15:7-8,10,14 (TEV) 7  "If in any of the towns in the land that the LORD your God is giving you there are Israelites in need, then do not be selfish and refuse to help them. 8  Instead, be generous and lend them as much as they need. … 10  Give to them freely and unselfishly, and the LORD will bless you in everything you do.  14  Give to them generously from what the LORD has blessed you with—….

PRAYER: As YOU are so generous with me, I will try to be a conduit of YOUR blessings to others.

Deuteronomy 16:10-11 (TEV) 10  and then celebrate the Harvest Festival, to honor the LORD your God, by bringing him a freewill offering in proportion to the blessing he has given you. 11  Be joyful in the LORD'S presence, together with your children, your servants, and the Levites, foreigners, orphans, and widows who live in your towns. Do this at the one place of worship.

PRAYER: I will be a cheerful giver in our congregation.

Deuteronomy 16:12 (TEV) 12  Be sure that you obey these commands; do not forget that you were slaves in Egypt.

PRAYER: Got it, humility and sincere appreciation.

Deuteronomy 17:19 (TEV) 19  He is to keep this book near him and read from it all his life, so that he will learn to honor the LORD and to obey faithfully everything that is commanded in it.

PRAYER: May the people of our congregation who are not yet reading YOUR Word – be inspired to do so…and daily.

THOT: Jesus followers will be tempted and tested.  But empowered and advantaged by God’s Word – we might test out well.

Friday

http://www.templatezone.com/app/HIE5/US-English/Images/EDB_Template_037_i01.png

Read: Mat 27:11-26, Rom 12:9-21, Psa 67, Deut 18-21

Matthew 27:24-26 (TEV) 24  When Pilate saw that it was no use to go on, but that a riot might break out, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said, "I am not responsible for the death of this man! This is your doing!" 25  The whole crowd answered, "Let the responsibility for his death fall on us and on our children!" 26  Then Pilate set Barabbas free for them; and after he had Jesus whipped, he handed him over to be crucified.

NOTE1: Jesus would go on trial six times with1) Annas; 2) Caiaphas; 3) Sanhedrin; 4) Pilate; 5) Herod; 6) Pilate

NOTE2: The Jews weren’t responsible, Pilate wasn’t responsible, we all were responsible.

PRAYER: Lord, thank YOU for dying for our sins!

Romans 12:10-13,15-16 (TEV) 10  Love one another warmly as Christians, and
be eager to show respect for one another.
11  Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion.
12  Let your hope keep you joyful,
be patient in your troubles, and
pray at all times.
13  Share your belongings with your needy fellow Christians, and
open your homes to strangers….
15  Be happy with those who are happy, weep with those who weep. 16  Have the same concern for everyone.
Do not be proud, but accept humble duties. Do not think of yourselves as wise.

PRAYER: That is quite a list, but I can do it!  Love, humility, hard work, joy, patience, and generosity – got it!!!

Romans 12:9,18-19,21 (TEV) 9  Love must be completely sincere.
Hate what is evil, hold on to what is good. …
17  If someone has done you wrong, do not repay him with a wrong.
Try to do what everyone considers to be good.

18  Do everything possible on your part to live in peace with everybody.
19  Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God's anger do it. …
21  Do not let evil defeat you; instead, conquer evil with good.

PRAYER: I hope to be as compassionate and merciful as YOU.  I will be know as a “good deed doer”.

Psalm 67:6-7 (TEV) 6  The land has produced its harvest; God, our God, has blessed us. 7  God has blessed us; may all people everywhere honor him.

PRAYER:  today and certainly this coming weekend when we gather together in community.

Deuteronomy 18:9 (TEV) 9  "When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, don't follow the disgusting practices of the nations that are there.

PRAYER: Help me to remain wholly devoted to YOU though it might be counter cultural to everyone else.

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 (TEV) 10  Don't sacrifice your children in the fires on your altars; and don't let your people practice divination or look for omens or use spells 11  or charms, and don't let them consult the spirits of the dead. 12  The LORD your God hates people who do these disgusting things, and that is why he is driving those nations out of the land as you advance.

NOTE: Why would people think that Ouija boards, horoscopes, and crystals would be easier and wiser to read that God’s easily accessible, relatable, and readable Word.

PRAYER: Lord, forgive us for going to everything and everyone but YOU.

Deuteronomy 20:1,3-4 (TEV) 1  "When you go out to fight against your enemies and you see chariots and horses and an army that outnumbers yours, do not be afraid of them. The LORD your God, who rescued you from Egypt, will be with you. 3  'Men of Israel, listen! Today you are going into battle. Do not be afraid of your enemies or lose courage or panic. 4  The LORD your God is going with you, and he will give you victory.'

PRAYER: Greater are YOU with me than any number of “them”.

PRAYER: Lord, YOU and I make a majority, right?!!

THOT: The real believer doesn’t look for easy or quick answers, they wait on the Lord.
