MONDAY 3/5/2018

Read: Mat 27:27-44, Rom 13, Psa 68, Deut 22-26

Matthew 27:42 (TEV) 42  "He saved others, but he cannot save himself! Isn't he the king of Israel? If he will come down off the cross now, we will believe in him!

PRAYER: YOU did that for us! But YOU came out of the tomb instead of off the cross.  Much better!!!

Romans 13:1 (TEV) 1  Everyone must obey state authorities, because no authority exists without God's permission, and the existing authorities have been put there by God.

PRAYER: I certainly want to pray for all those authorities.

Romans 13:6 (TEV) 6  That is also why you pay taxes, because the authorities are working for God when they fulfill their duties.

PRAYER: Taxes too!?!!  OK…

Romans 13:8 (TEV) 8  Be under obligation to no one—the only obligation you have is to love one another. Whoever does this has obeyed the Law.

PRAYER: I’ll try to keep from owing anything but love to anybody anytime..

Romans 13:12-14 (TEV) 12  The night is nearly over, day is almost here. Let us stop doing the things that belong to the dark, and let us take up weapons for fighting in the light. 13  Let us conduct ourselves properly, as people who live in the light of day—no orgies or drunkenness, no immorality or indecency, no fighting or jealousy. 14  But take up the weapons of the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop paying attention to your sinful nature and satisfying its desires.

PRAYER: I could use a little help with this.

Psalm 68:3,26 (TEV) 3  But the righteous are glad and rejoice in his presence; they are happy and shout for joy. 26  "Praise God in the meeting of his people; praise the LORD, all you descendants of Jacob!"

PRAYER: May this coming weekend be loud with joyful shouts of praise in YOUR House.

Psalm 68:19-20,35 (TEV) 19  Praise the Lord, who carries our burdens day after day; he is the God who saves us. 20  Our God is a God who saves; he is the LORD, our Lord, who rescues us from death. 35  How awesome is God as he comes from his sanctuarythe God of Israel! He gives strength and power to his people. Praise God!

PRAYER: Thank YOU for this last weekend’s refueling.

Deuteronomy 23:21 (TEV) 21  "When you make a vow to the LORD your God, do not put off doing what you promised; the LORD will hold you to your vow, and it is a sin not to keep it.

PRAYER: I will be a person of my word.

Deuteronomy 24:17-18 (TEV) 17  "Do not deprive foreigners and orphans of their rights; and do not take a widow's garment as security for a loan. 18  Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God set you free; that is why I have given you this command.

PRAYER: I will be more compassionate and understanding of others.

Deuteronomy 26:2 (TEV) 2  each of you must place in a basket the first part of each crop that you harvest and you must take it with you to the one place of worship.

PRAYER: How many times have we given you the “leftovers” instead of the first and the best.  Forgive us for not valuing YOU!

THOT: While believers are “in” the world and pay taxes “to” the world, they are not “of” the world.


TUESDAY 3/6/2018

Read: Mat 27:45-56, Rom 14, Psa 69:1-18, Deut 27-28

Matthew 27:46 (TEV) 46  At about three o'clock Jesus cried out with a loud shout, "Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?" which means, "My God, my God, why did you abandon me?"

NOTE: Quoting Psa.22:1 which concludes with vs.31   “People not yet born will be told: "The Lord saved his people."

PRAYER: Lord, Thank YOU for turning sorrow to joy.

Matthew 27:55 (TEV) 55  There were many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee and helped him.

PRAYER: I don’t want to just follow “from a distance”

Romans 14:1 (TEV) 1  Welcome those who are weak in faith, but do not argue with them about their personal opinions.

PRAYER: I will welcome to weak and I’ll try to listen without being quick to criticize

Romans 14:4,13,19 (TEV) 4  Who are you to judge the servants of someone else? It is their own Master who will decide whether they succeed or fail. And they will succeed, because the Lord is able to make them succeed. … 13  So then, let us stop judging one another. Instead, you should decide never to do anything that would make others stumble or fall into sin. … 19  So then, we must always aim at those things that bring peace and that help strengthen one another.

PRAYER: May we all be body (of Christ) builders

Romans 14:7-8 (TEV) 7  We do not live for ourselves only, and we do not die for ourselves only. 8  If we live, it is for the Lord that we live, and if we die, it is for the Lord that we die. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

PRAYER: I am created by YOU and for YOU.  I serve YOU. I live for YOU.

Romans 14:17 (TEV) 17  For God's Kingdom is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of the righteousness, peace, and joy which the Holy Spirit gives.


Romans 14:23 (TEV) 23  But if they have doubts about what they eat, God condemns them when they eat it, because their action is not based on faith. And anything that is not based on faith is sin.


Psalm 69:16 (TEV) 16  Answer me, LORD, in the goodness of your constant love; in your great compassion turn to me!

PRAYER: Thank YOU for YOUR constant love and great compassion.  I am blessed.

Deuteronomy 28:1,6 (TEV) 1  "If you obey the LORD your God and faithfully keep all his commands that I am giving you today, he will make you greater than any other nation on earth. … 6  "The LORD will bless everything you do.

PRAYER: faithful obedience, got it!

Deuteronomy 28:12 (TEV) 12  He will send rain in season from his rich storehouse in the sky and bless all your work, so that you will lend to many nations, but you will not have to borrow from any.

PRAYER: That would be GREAT!!!

Deuteronomy 28:13 (TEV) 13  The LORD your God will make you the leader among the nations and not a follower; you will always prosper and never fail if you obey faithfully all his commands that I am giving you today.

PRAYER: I obey,  I will be a leader, an example, and I will not follow the ways of this world.

THOT: Real Christians are patient and compassionate to the weak and immature.  They remember what it is like when they were spiritual babies.  And like the Lord they seek to build them up.


WEDNESDAY 3/7/2018

Read: Mat 27:57-66, Rom 15:1-13, Psa 69:19-36, Deut 29-31

Romans 15:1-2 (TEV) 1  We who are strong in the faith ought to help the weak to carry their burdens. We should not please ourselves. 2  Instead, we should all please other believers for their own good, in order to build them up in the faith.

PRAYER: I will be a builder upper.

Romans 15:7 (TEV) 7  Accept one another, then, for the glory of God, as Christ has accepted you.

PRAYER: May people mistake me for YOU as I welcome them and love on them (as YOU’ve done for me)!

Romans 15:13 (TEV) 13  May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit.

PRAYER: May the church seek to continue to spiritually grow so that the hope just grows and spreads to all who need to see it.

Psalm 69:30-31 (TEV) 30  I will praise God with a song; I will proclaim his greatness by giving him thanks. 31  This will please the LORD more than offering him cattle, more than sacrificing a full-grown bull.

PRAYER: I’m not sure people know how much YOU love praise and worship singing.  May the people’s fill YOUR house this weekend with music and heartfelt gratitude.

Psalm 69:32 (TEV) 32  When the oppressed see this[singing], they will be glad; those who worship God will be encouraged.

PRAYER: Yes, that would be very cool.  Blessing for YOU, a blessing for them, a blessing for everybody.

Deuteronomy 29:9 (TEV) 9  Obey faithfully all the terms of this covenant, so that you will be successful in everything you do.

PRAYER: I will be loyal to YOUR Word.

Deuteronomy 30:2-3 (TEV) 2  If you and your descendants will turn back to the LORD and with all your heart obey his commands that I am giving you today, 3  then the LORD your God will have mercy on you. He will bring you back from the nations where he has scattered you, and he will make you prosperous again.

PRAYER: I, for one, appreciate getting all the second and third chances YOU offer, again and again.

Deuteronomy 31:6,8 (TEV) 6  Be determined and confident. Do not be afraid of them. Your God, the LORD himself, will be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you." … 8  The LORD himself will lead you and be with you. He will not fail you or abandon you, so do not lose courage or be afraid."

PRAYER: One plus God equals a majority, right!  I will be faithful, resolute, secure in YOU.

Deuteronomy 31:20 (TEV) 20  I will take them into this rich and fertile land, as I promised their ancestors. There they will have all the food they want, and they will live comfortably. But they will turn away and worship other gods. They will reject me and break my covenant,

PRAYER: Lord, help us to not be lulled into complacency nor compromise because of our many many blessings.

THOT: Real believers have always struggled with “the flesh”, so we help one another to do better.


THURSDAY 3/8/2018

Read: Mat 28:1-10, Rom 15:14-33, Psa 70, Deut 32

Matthew 28:2,5-6 (TEV) 2  Suddenly there was a violent earthquake; an angel of the Lord came down from heaven, rolled the stone away, and sat on it.  5  The angel spoke to the women. "You must not be afraid," he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6  He is not here; he has been raised, just as he said. Come here and see the place where he was lying.

PRAYER: Wow.  And thank YOU!!!

Romans 15:20 (TEV) 20  My ambition has always been to proclaim the Good News in places where Christ has not been heard of, so as not to build on a foundation laid by someone else.

PRAYER: May everyone be inspired to reach someone nobody has bothered to reach out to.

Psalm 70:4 (TEV) 4  May all who come to you be glad and joyful. May all who are thankful for your salvation always say, "How great is God!"

PRAYER: May YOUR house be lit up with lively praise and thanks giving this weekend.

Psalm 70:5 (TEV) 5  I am weak and poor; come to me quickly, O God. You are my savior and my LORD hurry to my aid!

PRAYER: I am not god, YOU are!  I come to YOU!

Deuteronomy 32:3 (TEV) 3  I will praise the name of the LORD, and his people will tell of his greatness.

PRAYER: I will be loud and clear about my devotion to YOU.

Deuteronomy 32:15 (TEV) 15  "The LORD'S people grew rich, but rebellious; they were fat and stuffed with food. They abandoned God their Creator and rejected their mighty savior.

PRAYER: Seen that happen!  Today, I place YOU in the center of my life.

THOT: Jesus followers may be tempted by fear and even prosperity – but they always come back to the Lord.


FRIDAY 3/9/2018

Read: Mat 28:11-20, Rom 16, Psa 71, Deut 33-34

Matthew 28:17 (TEV) 17  When they saw him, they worshiped him, even though some of them doubted.

PRAYER: I’m sure I’ve done that too.  Thank YOU for receiving me anyway and waiting out my doubt.

Matthew 28:19-20 (TEV) 19  Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and
 make them my disciples:
baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20  and
teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And
I will be with you always, to the end of the age."

PRAYER: I will “go” to whomever, wherever.  I will lead them to become YOUR lifelong students.  I will immerse them in YOU.  And I will share YOUR Word, live YOUR Word, and all of YOUR Word.

Romans 16:17 (TEV) 17  I urge you, my friends: watch out for those who cause divisions and upset people's faith and go against the teaching which you have received. Keep away from them!

PRAYER: Division bad.  I pray for unity in the Body.

Romans 16:20,25 (TEV) 20  And God, our source of peace, will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. 25  … He is able to make you stand firm in your faith, ….

PRAYER: That’s a big order, but OK, I believe YOU.

Psalm 71:7 (TEV) 7  My life has been an example to many, because you have been my strong defender.

PRAYER: I hope to be a positive example of faith.

Psalm 71:15 (TEV) 15  I will tell of your goodness; all day long I will speak of your salvation, though it is more than I can understand.

PRAYER: I’m not waiting for the right words.  People will here how YOU’ve blessed me.

Psalm 71:23 (TEV) 23  I will shout for joy as I play for you; with my whole being I will sing because you have saved me.

PRAYER: Especially on the weekends, I

Deuteronomy 33:3,29 (TEV) 3  The LORD loves his people and protects those who belong to him. So we bow at his feet and obey his commands. 29  Israel, how happy you are! There is no one like you, a nation saved by the LORD. The LORD himself is your shield and your sword, to defend you and give you victory.

PRAYER: Thank YOU for YOUR passion, provision, and protection.

Deuteronomy 34:12 (TEV) 12  No other prophet has been able to do the great and terrifying things that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

NOTE: According to Numbers 12:3 Moses was the humblest man on earth.

PRAYER: Lord, great and mighty things often go to my head.  May I be as humble and focused in my devotion to YOU as YOUR servant Moses.  I’ve just got a ways to go with that.

THOT: Jesus followers are students, warriors,  team players, and salespersons – all powered up through their personal relationships with Christ.
