If you use
this weekly guide - you'll cover all
of the Bible in just 300 days. This is sort of a
"Cliff Notes" version of the reading plan that Pastor John
uses. But it's more than just learning stuff. This helps
you to communicate with God. You'll hear Him, and He will hear

Mark 2:15,17 (TEV) 15 Later
on Jesus was having a meal in Levi's house. A large number of tax
collectors and other outcasts was following Jesus, and many of them
joined him and his disciples at the table. … 17 Jesus
heard them and answered, "People who are well do not need a
doctor, but only those who are sick. I have not come to call
respectable people, but outcasts."
PRAYER: I’ll try to remember that the next
time I get all fussy about some of YOUR followers. Help me to love them like YOU do.
Corinthians 5:7-8 (TEV) 7 You
must remove the old yeast of sin so that you will be entirely
pure. Then you will be like a new batch of dough without any
yeast, as indeed I know you actually are. For our Passover Festival is
ready, now that Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. 8 Let us celebrate our
Passover, then, not with bread having the old yeast of sin and
wickedness, but with the bread that has no yeast, the bread of
purity and truth.
PRAYER: Help us clean up any residue sin in
our lives. May we be better
examples of purity and truth
Corinthians 5:9-11 (TEV) 9 In the letter that I
wrote you I told you not to associate with immoral people. 10 Now
I did not mean pagans who are immoral or greedy or are thieves, or who
worship idols. To avoid them you would have to get out of the world
completely. 11 What
I meant was that you should not associate with a person who calls
himself a believer but is immoral or greedy or worships idols or is
a slanderer or a drunkard or a thief. Don't even sit down to eat
with such a person.
PRAYER: help me to say “no” to the immoral
believers, and guide me to the immoral non-believers.
77:12-14 (TEV) 12 I
will think about all that you have done; I will meditate
on all your mighty acts. 13 Everything you do, O God, is holy. No god is as great as you. 14 You are the God who works miracles; you showed your might among the
PRAYER: There is none like YOU. I just have to remind myself of that
77:19-20 (TEV) 19 You
walked through the waves; you crossed the
deep sea, but your footprints could not
be seen. 20 You led your people like a shepherd, with Moses and Aaron in charge.
PRAYER: Whoever is “in charge”, however great
the waves, however lonely I feel – YOU are there to guide and protect.
(TEV) 8 The
men who went with me, however, made our people afraid. But I
faithfully obeyed the LORD
PRAYER: May I be un-detoured by others doubt
14:10-11 (TEV) 10 But
now, look. It has been forty-five years since the LORD said that to Moses. That
was when Israel was going through the desert, and the LORD, as he promised, has kept
me alive ever since. Look at me! I am eighty-five years old 11 and
am just as strong today as I was when Moses sent me out. I am still
strong enough for war or for anything else.
PRAYER: May I have this “can do” attitude as
I grow older.
14:15 (TEV) 15 …There was now peace in the land.
PRAYER: That just sounds nice!
THOT: Real Jesus followers seek the corrupt,
sin stained, and immoral UNBELIEVERS but wholly avoid the bad

"No one uses a piece of new cloth to
patch up an old coat, because the new patch will shrink and tear
off some of the old cloth, making an even bigger hole. 22 Nor
does anyone pour new wine into used wineskins, because the wine
will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be
ruined. Instead, new wine must be poured into fresh wineskins."
PRAYER: Help me to refocus on YOU on the days that I turn our
fresh relationship into a mindless routine. YOU deserve fresh and
focused devotion every day.
2:27-28 (TEV) 27
And Jesus concluded, "The Sabbath
was made for the good of human beings; they were not made for
the Sabbath. 28 So
the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
PRAYER: Speaking of routines, may people show up this coming
Sabbath with openness and excitement about this community/worship
event. And may they leave
Corinthians 6:5-6 (TEV) 5 Shame on you!
Surely there is at least one wise person in your fellowship who can
settle a dispute between fellow Christians. 6 Instead, one
Christian goes to court against another and lets unbelievers judge
PRAYER: May all believers think about our witness before the
unbelievers. How will what
we’re about to say or do reflect upon YOU to the unbeliever.
Corinthians 6:9-11 (TEV) 9 Surely you know
that the wicked will not possess God's Kingdom. Do not fool
yourselves; people who are immoral or who worship idols or are
adulterers or homosexual perverts 10 or who steal or are greedy
or are drunkards or who slander others or are thieves—none
of these will possess God's Kingdom. 11 Some of
you were like that. But you have been purified from sin; you have
been dedicated to God; you have been put right with God by the Lord
Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
NOTE: There are some believers that seem
to focus on one or two of the nine specific sins listed here. Yet most of them, themselves, struggle
with “greed” or “talking behind people’s backs”. I like that Paul reminds the
church that some of us are like that. (BTW: Rom.1:29 lists gossip next
PRAYER: Lord, I’m not perfect, and that’s not an excuse. It is my motivation to help other
“sinners” feel welcome and encouraged to do better … to be better.
78:4,7 (TEV) 4 We will not keep them from
our children; we will tell the next
generation about the LORD'S power and his great
deeds and the wonderful things he has
done. … 7 In
this way they also will put their trust in God and not forget what he has done, but always obey his commandments.
PRAYER: I will learn and obey but I’ll seek to teach the younger
generations as well.
78:21-22,38 (TEV) 21 And
so the LORD was angry
when he heard them; he attacked his people with
fire, and his anger against them grew,
they had no faith in him and did
not believe that he would save them.
… 38 But
God was merciful to his people. He forgave
their sin and did not destroy them.
Many times he held back his anger
and restrained his fury.
PRAYER: Thank YOU for YOUR mercy and many “second chances”.
17:12-13,18 (TEV) 12 The people of Manasseh,
however, were not able to drive out the people living in those
cities, so the Canaanites continued to live there. 13 Even
when the Israelites became stronger, they did not drive
out all the Canaanites, but they did force them to work for
them. … 18 The
hill country will be yours. Even though it is a forest, you will
clear it and take possession of it from one end to the other. As
for the Canaanites, you will drive them out, even though they do
have iron chariots and are a strong people."
NOTE: Even though we believers are
growing, if we allow things that dishonor Christ in our lives – we
eventually will pay for that.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to get rid of those things in my life that
do not honor YOU.
THOT: while on earth, it’s a constant
battle with the flesh.
Believers must purposefully seek Christ every day and
aggressively clean up things that will not honor Him.
Read: Mark 3:1-19, 1 Cor 6:12-20, Psa 78:40-72,
3:4-5 (TEV) 4 Then
he asked the people, "What does our Law allow us to do
on the Sabbath? To help or to harm? To save someone's
life or to destroy it?" But they did not
say a thing. 5 Jesus was angry as he looked around at them, but at the
same time he felt sorry for them, because they were so
stubborn and wrong. Then he said to the man, "Stretch out
your hand." He stretched it out, and it became well again.
PRAYER: We turn YOUR Word into rules of enslavement then deny YOU
the opportunity to bless. Thank YOU for YOUR patience with us.
3:14-15 (TEV) 14
and he chose twelve, whom he named
apostles. "I have chosen you to be with me,"
he told them. "I will also send you out to preach, 15 and
you will have authority to drive out demons."
PRAYER: I may not be one of the 12, but I definitely appreciate
feeling like I’m chosen. With YOU I’ll reach out to others.
Corinthians 6:12 (TEV) 12 Someone will say, "I am allowed to do
anything." Yes; but not everything is good for you. I
could say that I am allowed to do anything, but I am not going
to let anything make me its slave.
PRAYER: I need to post this on my fridge. And I swear that chocolate has
magic powers (just teasing!).
Corinthians 6:15-17 (TEV) 15 You know that your
bodies are parts of the body of Christ. Shall I take a part
of Christ's body and make it part of the body of a prostitute?
Impossible! 16 Or
perhaps you don't know that the man who joins his body to a
prostitute becomes physically one with her? The scripture says
quite plainly, "The two will become one body." 17 But
he who joins himself to the Lord becomes spiritually one with
PRAYER: May we be wiser and more selective about whom we connect
with. I’ll share with people
of the world, but I’ll abide with the believer.
Corinthians 6:19-20 (TEV) 19 Don't you know
that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives
in you and who was given to you by God? You do not belong to
yourselves but to God; 20 he
bought you for a price. So use your bodies for God's glory.
PRAYER: Sometimes I forget that I belong to YOU and that really
it’s all YOUR’s. Thank YOU for my life, may it please YOU.
78:41,52-53,56 (TEV) 41 Again and again they
put God to the test and brought pain
to the Holy God of Israel. …52 Then he led his
people out like a shepherd and guided
them through the desert. 53 He led them safely, and they were not afraid;
but the sea came rolling over their
enemies. … 56 But they
rebelled against Almighty God and put him
to the test. They did not obey
PRAYER: Wow are we just bad!
How amazing is YOUR love.

David took care of them with unselfish
devotion and led them with skill.
PRAYER: Raise up leaders who will serve with unselfish devotion,
leadership, and real skill.
18:1 (TEV) 1 After they had
conquered the land, the entire community of Israel assembled
at Shiloh and set up the Tent of the LORD'S presence.
PRAYER: May believers everywhere this weekend get together in the
spirit of unity and bless YOUR Holy presence.
THOT: We are “the redeemed” but we just
don’t seem to keep our noses very clean without the Lord and really
good under-shepherds (pastors).

3:24-25 (TEV) 24
If a country divides itself into
groups which fight each other, that country will fall apart. 25 If
a family divides itself into groups which fight each other,
that family will fall apart.
PRAYER: Speaking of which, I do pray for our nation. Unite us Lord. And the church too!
3:27 (TEV) 27 "No
one can break into a strong man's house and take away his
belongings unless he first ties up the strong man; then he
can plunder his house.

Jesus answered, "Who is my mother?
Who are my brothers?" 34 He looked at the
people sitting around him and said, "Look! Here are my mother
and my brothers! 35 Whoever does what God
wants is my brother, my sister, my mother."
PRAYER: We are fam-i-ly (of the Word empowered).
Corinthians 7:3 (TEV) 3 A man should
fulfill his duty as a husband, and a woman should fulfill her duty
as a wife, and each should satisfy the other's needs.
PRAYER: May we all look out for one another’s interests (not
sexually, unless we’re married of course).
Corinthians 7:10-11,15 (TEV) 10 … a wife must not leave
her husband; 11 …
and a husband must not divorce his wife. … 15 However,
if the one who is not a believer wishes to leave the Christian
partner, let it be so. ….
PRAYER: I pray for the marriages in our congregation. May those with unbelieving
partners endure as a fantastic witness. May all believers remain patient
79:9 (TEV) 9 Help
us, O God, and save us; rescue us
and forgive our sins for the sake
of your own honor.
PRAYER: May YOU be exalted even in our needs.

gave them peace throughout the land, just as he had promised
their ancestors. Not one of all their enemies had been able to
stand against them, because the LORD
gave the Israelites the victory over all their enemies.

YOUR Word of truth.

but not because we pray for it, but because we live God’s Word.

4:11-12 (TEV) 11 "You
have been given the secret of the Kingdom of God," Jesus
answered. "But the others, who are on the outside, hear all things
by means of parables, 12
so that, 'They may look
and look, yet not see; they may listen and listen,
yet not understand.
For if they did, they would turn to God, and he would forgive them.'
PRAYER: Help me to reach the “lost” with this
great news of mercy and grace.
4:15-20 (TEV) 15 Some
people are like the seeds … as soon as they hear the message, Satan
comes and takes it away. 16 … they hear the
message, they receive it gladly. 17 But it does not
sink deep into them, and they don't last long. …. 18 ….
… the ones who hear the message, 19 but the worries about this
life, the love for riches, and all other kinds of desires crowd in and choke
the message, and they don't bear fruit. 20 But other people are
like seeds sown in good soil. They hear the message, accept it, and bear
fruit: some thirty, some sixty, and some one
PRAYER: I fear I’ve often been three of those
fruitless seeds. I want to be a
MAJOR fruit producer for YOU.
Corinthians 7:17 (TEV) 17 Each of you should go on living according to the Lord's gift
to you, and as you were when God called you. ….
PRAYER: I’ll try not to waste the time and
talents YOU’ve given me.
7:19 (TEV) 19 For
whether or not a man is circumcised means nothing; what matters is
to obey God's commandments.
PRAYER: May we be clear examples of YOUR
Corinthians 7:22-23 (TEV) 22 For a slave who
has been called by the Lord is the Lord's free person; in the
same way a free person who has been called by Christ is his
slave. 23 God
bought you for a price; so do not become slaves of people.
PRAYER: I am YOUR servant, and I am free!!!
Corinthians 7:28 (TEV) 28 But if you do marry,
you haven't committed a sin; and if an unmarried woman marries, she
hasn't committed a sin. But I would rather spare you the everyday
troubles that married people will have.
PRAYER: I lift up the couples in our
congregation. Unify them to be a
partnership in mission.
Psalm 80:4,17-19 (TEV) 4 How
much longer, LORD God
Almighty, will you be angry with your people's
prayers? … 17 Preserve
and protect the people you have chosen, the
nation you made so strong. 18 We will never turn away from you again; keep us alive, and we will praise you. 19 Bring us back, LORD
God Almighty. Show us your mercy, and we
will be saved.
PRAYER: Admittedly, we’ve been kinda goofy.
May we be more loyal and obedient as YOU help turn us around.
22:2-3,5 (TEV) 2 He said to them, "You
have done everything that Moses the LORD'S servant ordered you to do, and you have obeyed
all my commands. 3
All this time you have never once deserted
the other Israelites. You have been careful to obey the
commands of the LORD your
God. … 5 Make sure you obey
the law that Moses commanded you: love the LORD your God, do his will, obey his
commandments, be faithful to him, and serve him with all
your heart and soul."
PRAYER: Complete devotion to YOU and YOUR
kids, got it!
23:6-8 (TEV) 6 So
be careful to obey and do everything that is written in the book
of the Law of Moses. Do not neglect any part of it, 7 and then you will not associate
with these peoples left among you or speak the names of their gods
or use those names in taking vows or worship those gods or bow down to
them. 8 Instead,
be faithful to the LORD,
as you have been till now.
PRAYER: YOU, not the world, will be my guide.
23:10-11 (TEV) 10 Any
one of you can make a thousand men run away, because the LORD your God is fighting for
you, just as he promised. 11 Be careful, then,
to love the LORD your
